yellw !
I`m an international student from Pakistan , just got done with my A's .
I have an A in Economics and B's in History Maths and General Paper . In my O levels I had 6 A's and 3 B's . Will be giving A level maths again in November and am confident of an A grade .
I screwed up my earlier SAT 1's . Got a 1210 ( 650M 560V ) altough i think i can improve on the new SAT. Also had a 770 in Maths 2c .
Now I need to find a decent college in the states to enroll in next year .My EC's are very few some internships , social work etc etc. Will be able to gather good reccommendations and essays . AND I NEED FINANCIAL AID !!
So kindly list some colleges down where I have a realistic chance of getting in and getting some sort of aid . Thankus !

Check this list out, it's pretty accurate.

Thanks for the reply . But people , what kind of a score on the new SAT should get me into a good place .Secodly I was looking at Corneticuiet College , they require either two SAT 2's or the SAT 1 .Since my 770 looks better should I give another SAT 2 ? C`moon you all can do better than one reply !

Bump Bump Bump !!

Why don't you take another SAT II as well as the new SAT. Study for both of them and see which one's better.
I'm not familiar with Connecticut college, but some of the better Uni's like Boston University had an average SAT of 1320 on the old test.

At collegeboard.com you can check where the SAT scores of most admitted students at many univerisities range.

I'd be giving both SAT 1 and 2 but at the moment I am confused whether to go foward with the whole application process at all . I`m going to enrolling in Lahore University of Management Sciences ( LUMS ) for the time bieng even though I plan on applying as a freshman . So between SAT preperation , A level retakes and University work I'd be ****ed UP ! So guys I turn to you for advice . Do I have a realistic chance ? I mean besides the workload there are also a lot of costs involved in applying . So tellme folks....where do I stand ??

BUMP BUMP BUMP !!

if u can up your SAT scores and get the A grades you are sure u're goin to get, u'll have some chance. And A level maths is not tough at all so you should manage pretty comfortably. The whole college search and application process is a little pain though.. you should've already started if you are applying for Fall '06. good luck
btw, i've my A levels in november too.. :)

Good luck Aaron , which country you from ?
I
m looking at Ohio Weselyan University , is it any good ? Apparantly admission is **** easy and financial aid is generous .I
m not even thinking of wasting money on a top college , medicore places would do as long as it doesnt burden my parents pockets .

thanks kez.. me from nepal.
And yea, i did at one time look into Ohio Wesleyan University. It offers aid and my SAT scores are over their 75th percentile. so it was looking all good, until i found it didn't have my major! As you say, it's a mediocre uni i guess.
and if you get into a top college, u wouldn't have to burden anyone. top colleges are usually very generous.. only it's difficult to get in.

and lemme tell you this, admission may not be as **** easy as u say. u never know with admissions. though it tends to be easier to predict, generally speaking, as you go down the college ranking list..

well, good luck to u too..

good point aaron56 about Ohio Wesleyan University when you say admission may not be as **** easy as u say. This is year is 68%, which is comparable to Wooster's and a bit higher than Denison but LACs in the Midwest have slightly higher admission rates than the ones in the Northeast. Plus, my guess is that with so many international students applying to universities that are more generous to foreign students, the admission rate for international students at OWU is somewhat lower and probably even harder to get into it with a generous package but I am not a foreign student so I don't know. It is my impression that midwestern LACs make up for higher admission rates with what is called price discounting dependent on the viability and academic strength of applicants. In other words, if you don't get into Pomona College or Vassar College, you probably will get into Ohio Wesleyan University or The College of Wooster but you'll get zero aid at both.
