I work in a medical academic department. Today is one of the most anticipated days of the year, Match Day! - MS4’s learn where they will park their bodies and minds for the next few years!

My daughter is a 2nd year resident and was so excited about Match day today she texted about it last night. She met many of the applicants for her program and is looking forward to hearing who is coming.

A friend’s son, a cousin’s son applying for a couples match. Keeping my fingers crossed for both today. Friends’ son’s attitude is great - he said where ever he matches is his first choice

On twitter lots of kids posted their “you matched” emails. I have no idea how one popped up on my feed. But then I took the time to like each and every one that popped up!

Both kids that I know are happy with their matches. And the bonus for me is that friends’ son matched at a place near us - so hopefully we’ll see each other more often!

It has been over 25 years but I still remember the excitement of my own match day. After presenting statistics like what percent got our 1st choice and 2nd choice in the formal auditorium, they called each of us up to get our letter and a bottle of Champaign.
I was pretty confident in my placement as one of the professors at my top choice had unofficially indicated I was likely to match there.
