I transferred into one of the best engineering schools in the nation(UIUC). I transferred in after my freshman year from a sub-par school and paid for it dearly.

My previous school didn't have a ChemE program so when I transferred this semester, I was a little behind in the ChemE program. I had to take a Chemical and Bio-molecular Engineering class, CalcIII, Physics 212, and Chemistry II. It didn't seem that bad because at my previous school I taken mostly Math and Physics courses with one elective. This semester I was doing the same thing as the previous year except one less elective.

I came here with a bit of a chip on my shoulder because I had done so well at my previous university. When I indulged myself into the school work I was shocked. I found many holes in my science and math foundation. I also notice the ridiculous amount of homework that was given each week. The real surprise were the tests. They really made you think about the concepts from different angles and that was something new for me.

I had done poorly in the first two midterms but had stepped it up a little on the third mid term. However, I believe i have bomb all my finals which will result in a 2.5 GPA. I've talk to many engineering students about there GPA and they say that freshman year is the year to make your GPA then it's just maintaining from there on. How accurate is that?

Do I have a chance to get a 3.6 GPA before I graduate, realistically?

Thanks
