Hard Choice...GW or Wisconsin

I have no idea partly because the two schools are so different. I want to study Political Science which draws me to GW but I'm also attracted to the campus and spirit of UW- Madison.

If you are in state for UW then go there, I think its a better school overall.

If you can afford to study at GW, definitely GW!!

Especailly when you are studying poltical science, no place on earth is better than GW. The kind of political connection that you will be making in GW is much much better than the one in a small town Wisconsin. …

REMEMBER. It’s not about What you know but WHO you know.

Well with scholarships GW and Wisconsin are about the same because I’m out of state.

I totally agree w/gogobet - it’s not WHAT you know, it’s WHO you know. Are there more political players in DC or Wisconsin? If you just want to dabble in local domestic politics then maybe Wisconsin will be enough. If you want to have an impact on the international scene and make a name for yourself quickly, then DC is a must. To add another cliche - LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.

well do you want that kind of state school feeling where you can go to basketball games and such? then go to wisconsin. if you dont really care about that stuff, then gw.

Not sure if the OP wants to work in DC/politics or study political science. If it’s an academic pursuit or in preparation for Law etc… the Political Science Dept at Madison is ranked 15th while GW is 39 (according to US News). Plus you get a whole list of top highly ranked social science departments from Econ to History to Sociology.
