AP Chemistry is the hardest and APUSH is by far the easiest.

@jngchemist,

Well, out of the 12 or so Iāve taken,

AP Psychology was definitely the easiest, followed by US History.

Hardest of the ones Iāve taken ā probably computer science or calculus. I hear physics is much worse though.

compsci and calculus hard? aww youāre not a math person =D

From the ones Iāve taken so far, Calculus was hardest and U.S. History was easiest.

Of the ones Iāve taken -

Hardest
Physics B (didnāt take AP course)
Calc AB (didnāt take AP course, took college course instead)
Calc BC (ditto)
Biology
Chemistry
US Gov
Psychology
Statistics
Easiest

I just remember taking Stats my sophomore year, having almost no idea what an AP test was like, not studying much the night before, and getting an easy 5.

French Lang. is ridiculously hard for non-natives. In Canada, they do French as a second language since Grade 4, but second language classes donāt really teach you anything. They might make you read a small passage, but the difficulty level is so much easier than the exam. And when it comes to listening/speaking - many teachers arenāt even fluent. And plus, French takes off 1/3 of a mark for every you get wrong, when itās impossible to guess. For listening, they have all these trap answers - when you think you heard a word and you try to pick the answer thatās related to the word, itās probably wrong.

And worst of all, the curve for French Lang. is brutally hard because you have to compete with all these natives/immersion people taking it.

As for the easiest exam, I think it really depends on what else youāre taking. E.g., if youāre taking Bio, then Env. Sci would probably be easiest. Euro Hist and World Hist kind of overlap too.

From the ones Iāve taken:

Hardest

Macroeconomics (self-study only using Barronāsā¦ so confusing)

Art History (took class at school, but more than half this free response this year was unknown images, and the prompts were brutal as usual)

Psychology (self-study using Barronās onlyā¦ some questions were confusing, but free response was alright)

Calculus AB (self-studyā¦ generally the material was easy to understand, but I loathe the wording of the free response questions and I didnāt do #6 - time was called)

Comparative Government (self-study using Ethel Woodās Guide - some of the MC were really confusing)

English Language (this MC was surprisingly easy and the essays were alright, but Iām totally not an English person so I think I did average on the essays)

Biology (MC was easy, essays were a bit harder but not too bad)

Chemistry (see Bio, but I think I made a few errors)

U.S. History (MC was alright, same with essays)

Human Geography (a complete joke)

Easiest

Chemistry was probably the most difficult for me, with the easiest being environmental science.

I have taken 8:

HARDEST

PHYSICS C- never took Physics B and I only took the mechanics section, so most of what I had to test on I had learned in first semester, so I had to relearn it all

CALCULUS BC- close second to physics and Iāve always been great at math

EURO- because Iām horrible at history and thereās more of it than APUSH

APUSH-see above

CHEMISTRY-in retrospect, actually quite easy, despite running out of time and not being able to use a calculator on the calculator question

SPANISH-would have been easier but for the one-chance-only speaking sections

US GOVāT AND POL- less history than all the others, but I spent the most time studying for this one

MICROECONOMICS-the easiest because econ is 100% logic, if it makes sense, it will be correct, the only difficult part is the terms and you can infer that too

EASIEST

The students taking the exam had some problem with the taper recorder and their noise affected my recording part. It is very very very hard for me, a non-native.

I took 4 this year:

Hardestā>Easiest

European HistoryāVirtually a self-study, since my teacher didnāt teach anything in class. The FRQs were much more difficult, especially compared to past FRQs. The DBQ was a b**** compared to past DBQs, but I still think I got a 4 or 5.

FrenchāNot that hard, per se, but the curve is just nasty. I may have screwed up the speaking, so Iām looking to my MC and writing to save my grade.

Physics BāNot really that bad for me, especially since there were no circuits, lenses, or mirrors on the FRQs. Instead, there was electrostatics and a relatively easy experiment problem. The MC was definitely more difficult than the 2009 MC, but it wasnāt too bad.

Calculus BCāEasy. Sure, I didnāt finish early, but Iām pretty sure I got a 80-90% on the 6 FRQs, mostly because my teacher is amazing. Also, most of the MC was a joke, which helped.

Hardest
AP French Language: Arrrgh! Between not paying attention first semester, and spending second semester focusing on the IB exam, I was poorly prepared. Listening and reading went quite well. The fill in was shaky, the writing was worse, and I underperformed on the speaking. That and a ridiculous curve make this a hell.

AP Chemistry: A wonderful teacher and a tough class made for good preparation for this test, and the MC felt fairly easy. The concepts on the FRQ were tough though, and I managed to run low on time and not get quite everything. Still, I probably got a five.

AP US History: What is everyone complaining about? Admittedly, it was my only AP that year and I was super-well prepared, but it was a relative cakewalk. Paying attention in my joke of a class and rigorous, borderline self-studying made the test quite easy.

AP Comparative Government and Politics: Self study, and easy as pie. The MC was a little harder than I expected, but I amazed myself with how much I was able to put down for the free response. Admittedly, I study these things in my spare time, but still - not a hard test.
Easiest

From easy to hard:
Statistics (had a really good teacher)
Calculus (Iām a math person)
Biology (crappy teacher, but lucked out on the frq)
Microeconomics (self-studied)
English Literature (I just hate literature)

From Easy to Hard:
AP World History
AP US History
AP Calculus AB
AP European History
AP Statistics
AP Calculus BC
AP English Language and Composition
AP Chemistry
AP Physics B

This year (for me):

Easy:

English Language
Calculus AB
Chinese Language
French Language
US History

Medium:

Spanish Literature (it was tougher than Iād expected)

Hard:

Macroeconomics

In my opinion, easiest to hardest:

Macroeconomics

US History

English Language

Hardest hands down - PHYSICS C (only took mechanics, but stillā¦ most difficult test iāve ever taken, the only test in the past 12 years that iāve had trouble timing myself with, AND way too much calculus even for me in calc3/diffeq in high school)

Easiest? probably psych. but thatās only what iāve heard from classmates

From Hardest to Easiest:

AP European History (3)
AP U.S. History (4)
AP Microeconomics (hopefully a 3)
AP Statistics (hopefully a 4)
AP Calculus AB (hopefully a 4)
AP U.S. Government and Politics (definitely at least a 3)
AP English Language and Composition (4)

Easiest to hardest:
- English Language
- Macroeconomics
- U. S History
- Biology
