Hardest AP Exam

Which subject is notorious for having the hardest AP Exam?

english lit, euro and music theory, but that’s just my opinion

I think Spanish Language is statistically the hardest

AP English Language, AP English Literature, AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism, AP Music Theory, and the AP foreign languages.

AP Foreign Languages (especially French, see link below. Of course, native speakers excluded; they can ace the AP exam of heir native language): [A.P.French Language and Standardization of all World Language A.P. exams Petition](<a href=“Petition Online - Petition Online has been retired”>Petition Online - Petition Online has been retired)

AP European History (with a really nasty curve)

AP Physics C

Still, I believe that the teacher determines the difficulty, especially if you aren’t talented with the subject.

Actually I think the foreign languages are the toughest lol. It also depends on the person.

Latin, almost no one takes it lol.

From what I know and heard:
Foreign Languages
English Lang and Lit
Physics C

I’m guessing English lit, because it seems to have the lowest percentages of 5’s (6.5%). However, it most likely depends on an individual’s strengths and weaknesses.

Why is Euro so hard?

depends what you mean by “hard”

AP Physics C: E/M is very hard, but a lot of people get 5’s because of the curve
however, many other tests are moderately hard but have harsher curves.

hard is subjective and many aps are self-selective. in addition to languages, don’t forget tests like studio art

I would also have to agree that AP European History is the hardest AP, out of the APs that I have taken. That was actually the first AP I took back in 2008, and the only AP I took that year. That is probably how I was able to pass it. Personally, I found AP English Language and Composition to be one of the easier ones.

Wonderful. Great confidence booster. I might just go shoot myself now…

I’ve heard AP Chem kind of sucks… I’ve also heard that AP Eng is mostly intuitive, so if you rock at English, you should be set :)

It’s not that bad actually. With AP Chem I have not been overwhelmed (or even whelmed), but that depends on your teacher I guess. Ap Foreign languages for sure, because they take more than one year to learn.

^^AP Chem - i say it’s just moderately difficult. The MC is hard, but you should know how to them if you know concepts.

I haven’t taken AP Chem (that’ll change next year!), but it’s just what I’ve heard through the grape vine…

now, the “nasty curve” on AP Euro-- what sense of nasty do you mean?

I don’t get the big fuss about Euro. I didn’t think it was that bad

That’s how it was for me… It was my first AP class (sophomore year) so I sort of freaked out all year and was really jittery for the exam… But I got a 4!

The curve for Euro is pretty nasty, percentage-wise. Last year, I believe a 121/180 (about 67%) was a 5 (which is a lower percent than previous years). On the contrary, an exam like Calculus BC has a curve around 66/108 (60%) for a 5. Plus, the essays (FRQs) for the history exams are graded both for historical accuracy and cohesiveness (i.e. how well it’s written). However, for a math exam, the FRQs are graded based on a “you see this, you give point(s)” grading scale.
