Which undergraduate college is the hardest to gain admission too?

I think it's the Smeal Business school. They have something like a 7% acceptance rate.

oh come on, 7%? thats a lil exaggerated

Hardest = Smeal
Easiest = Undecided (DUS)

7% is just about right.

Can someone provide a source for Smeal acceptance rates?

I find that hard to believe, as 18% of all PSU students are business/marketing majors, according to The College Board. Perhaps I'm not understanding something.

55% for 2006. May be a bit more selective now...
The Pennsylvania State University Undergrad Profile

ty for clearing that up toneranger

Perhaps the lower acceptance rates are for Sapphire?

What is the overall acceptance rate for UP? I read that it is 55% somewhere. I question the 55% acceptance rate for Smeal, if the overall rate is 55%.

agreed kiddo, i thought the 7% acceptance rate sounded better than the 55%?

There are too many 55%'s in the report that TR posted. My son is a freshman at Smeal. At a meeting at the beginning of the school year for all Smeal freshmen, they were told that the admittance rate for 2007 was 8%. He rattled off the exact numbers (how many applicants and how many accepted) but I don't remember them.

I find that very hard to believe. Even Harvard accepts 9% of their applicants. I would be surprised if PSU was more selective.

Having a lower acceptance rate is not necessarily related to selectivity. Smeal can have a lot more applicants than Harvard with a fixed number of seats available.

yeah, im pretty sure that smeal only accepts about 7-8% of their applicants. keep in mind thats not overall penn state acceptance, just smeal.

also, does it even matter what the acceptance rate is? smeal is the hardest. end of story.
