My college sucks! It's a cc, so they offer the basics in every subject and that's about it. Only math is a little better which goes up to Cal 3 and I think Differential Eq will be on the list this fall. But I want to look like I've tried to take the most difficult courses available so my GPA won't look rigged. I can either pick Biology, Physics, or Chemistry. That's it! So which one looks most difficult? I'm thinking Physics...right?

shudders at the mere thought of physics

I just finished Astronomy and we did some planetary/astronomical physics and whoa. I can only imagine what regular physics is like. Bio is fairly easy, and I always thought that Chem was fun, so I've never thought of it as particularly difficult, though it might be for some people. Physics (esp college physics) would probably look the most difficult of the three.

At a CC, physics would be the best (most difficult) to take, but it must be calculus based... Don't take the non-calc-based physics!!

Calculus-based physics is the most difficult subject in a typical two year college. I don't have a 4.0 GPA because of the two Bs I receive from physics even though I have straight As in all calulus and differential equation. You get to take a physics course to see how difficult it is; I bet after you finish taking some physics courses, you would feel that taking other courses especially the introductory GE courses are much much easier.

physics courses

physics I - first physics course I took, mofo prof, C
physics II - took it with a great prof, A
physics III - same guy, A

math courses I have taken

Calc II - most difficult, sequences and series sucks, barely made A
Calc III - easy as hell, A
Linear Algebra - moderately easy, some confusing topics, A
Diff. Eq - moderately difficult, lots of practice required, sequences and series rears its ugly head, A

human sexuality.

LMAO.

physics handsdown... CITAN you thought calc 3 was easier than calc 2? Interesting--i havn't taken calc 3 yet though.

caa5042: calc III is basically Calc I with three or more variables....pretty easy but I guess it depends on the professor

I would says Cal II and Cal III is about the same difficult; Yeah, Cal III is very similar to Cal I except there is extra variable Z or even more. You still do differentiation but partially because of many variables and you integrate with many variables which is considered as multiple integration.

i have no idea how i passed calc II and im probably goign to have to take Calc III... gg for me.

You don't need cal III if you are not science related major... I think

unless u go to ucsd where you do :)

awww... hahaah why do they do that for? seems like make you guys hate math more. What is your major by the way?

econ, wow, i hope i don't have to go to sd... damn requirements!

lol so since i'm into torturing myself for the better of my application, i'll be going for the calculus-based physics...thanks for the advice.

and one more other thing...all of you that are taking cal 3 and differential equations and linear algebra, you stay away from my schools and the economics major. lol. I can't compete, my CC is MAYBE gonna offer Diff Eq in the fall, and Linear Algebra is a longshot. Bummer.

^ You sound hardcore so you should be good. Where are you applying to?

Fortunately, CALC III(third semester calc, 4/5th quarter calc for us at UC's) is pretty easy for most people.

UCR is NOTORIOUSLY difficult with their calc 3, which is MATH 010A and MATH 010B. Math 10A is a breeze, differeniation and curl and gradients, but Math10B is some ridiculous class that includes ADVANCED calculus that is meant for upper div. math majors. It's ridiculous, it is by FAR the HARDEST class I have ever taken, and I'm an engineer. Fortunately, all of my friends say the same. BEWARE of UCR math10B. :)

was 9B difficult for you? it was hella hard for me and my friends... maybe it was because i got a visiting professor.

Im guessing 9B is calc 2(taylor and mclaurin, series, sequences, etc.)?

It's funny because i got a B in calc 1 and an A in calc 2(studied VERY well for exams though). And like 80% of ppl taking calc in other schools, i had a crappy, obnoxious professor. So i essentially had to self-teach myself all the material.
