I’m finding myself constantly stuck between Harding University, Lipscomb University, and Abilene Christian University. I have visited all three schools and enjoyed my visit to each very much. I will be pursuing a double major in Pre Medicine (Biology) and Missions with future plans to be a medical missionary. If you know these schools, what are some key differences or the pros/cons of each school. Thank you so much!
Lipscomb is slightly better academically and in located in Nashville, which offers many opportunities (being a city, vs. a rural area).ACU is the weakest academically.
You may want to email each college and ask whether they do committee letters for premeds applying to med schools and whether they refuse to write committee letters for some students.
Note that you don’t need to major in biology if you want to go to med school. A better way might be for you to major in THeology&Ministry and in Philosophy while completing the full premed core. Note that in addition to the premed core, the new MCAT (and med school admissions) will require you to have taken one semester of sociology, one semester of psychology, one semester of a diversity-focused course, and it may be a good idea to become fluent in the language spoken in the countries where you hope to be a missionary (French for Western Africa and France - the latter being broadly atheistic so really tough; Spanish for Central and South America; Russian is harder but can be rewarding? )
Thank you so much! @MYOS1634 This was extremely helpful. I am prepared to take several french classes while in college to prepare for ministry in Haiti.
