*Harry Potter Spoiler*-Discussion and Thoughts

Wow, I can't believe Dumbledore's gone.....after like 8 years of reading Harry Potter I have never been so shocked. I felt really weird after finishing this book, like it ended off too dramatically and there's so much left for Harry and his friends to do. There are Horcuxes of the Dark Lord scattered everywhere and then there's Snape. How did Snape slip beneath Dumbledore's nose??? The worst part is that all we can do now is endure another agonizing wait for HP7 and think about the initials R.A.B.!!!!

Seriously, what is the point of watching any Harry Potter movie now that Dumbledore's dead. The movies are so far behind the books!!! Seriously, come November when Goblet of Fire is on the big screen, all we are going to see is a pointless Quidditch World Cup and Harry/Cho flirting. How can anyone bear to watch this movie when they know what the future holds!!! All that seems to have happened an eternity ago....

B-Black. Isn't Black's brothers first name begin w/ an R?

My theory is that R.A.B. is Regulus Black. I'm not sure about the middle name, but as there are many astronomical names beginning with "A", it's not improbable.

But I am so sad that Dumbledore's gone!! I've been reading Harry Potter for (also) 8 years, and he's the benign grandfather I never had! I'm in shock. I'm feeling guilty, because I went through my "rebellious" stage, and thought Dumbledore was a manipulative loser...

SOB And I liked Snape! Who knew he was a half-blood? I mean, the idea passed my head, but I assumed that his muggle-born heredity would be maternal because surely the Slytherins would have recognized "Snape" as not a pureblood name.

I totally agree with you about the movies. I mean, who cares? I want Sirius and Dumbledore back! I don't care about Harry and Cho! Though I was very happy that Harry and Ginny got together, though they broke up (albeit for obvious reasons)...

I so knew that Tonks and Lupin (if he was straight, which he turned out to be) were going to get together! No one believed me, but they were!!

But back to Snape, I know he made the Unbreakable Vow, but if he truly believed in the cause, he would have known that Dumbledore was more important, and let himself die...

Randomly, Voldemort was going to make the final Horcrux after Harry's death, right? But he never succeeded, so wouldn't that only be six? Unless he made it when he was "resurrected"...

I also think that RAB is Regulus Black, the A for Alphard (sp?). Remember in book 5 Sirius talked about a rich uncle Alphard that was disowned because he left some money to Sirius after Sirius left the Black home? Maybe Regulus also had his uncle's name.

If it IS Regulus Black, that would make for an interesting twist that a Death Eater tried to get back at/kill part of Voldemort.

And I understand now what JKR meant when she said books 6 and 7 were just one book divided into two, because the end of the book doesn't seem like an end; rather, it feels like the story SHOULD continue (moreso than the ends of any other book).

It's too bad we'll have to wait another 2-3 years for the last book. It's also too bad that, while this book answered questions, it raised more questions too.

Does anyone else think R.A.B is the new minister, Rufus Scrimingeour?

Umm.. Rufus Scrimingeour is not R.A.B.The first time I read over the letter, it sounded like Dumbledore wrote it.

So the title for the 6th book is basically, "Harry Potter and Severus Snape". Hideous.

JKR pulled a nice move on us when she led us to believe that the significant person who died was the person Draco stood over. But, I called Dumbledore from the beginning, and he pulled through in the end. He was probably the most significant character that could have died(they weren't going to kill Ron or Hermione) and theres no one else of equal significance.

The Snape plot was great.

sighh...i almost wish i didn't sacrifice sleep and time for finishing it already, there's nothing left to keep me going. i agree with the regulus black theory, especially in the light of book 5's mention of a certain locket that resides in Grimmauld Place that Harry can't open...Slytherin's locket in Regulus' home?
On Dumbledore's death...i find it difficult to believe the wizard pleaded for mercy in the face of death, so perhaps he asked Snape to finish him off? he knew of the plots on his life, could he have known his death was imminent? Snape and he could have had their arguments over whether Severus should follow through with his vow. Hmmm...(btw the harrypotter.com message boards discuss these theories in depth)

Randomly, I think Harry is a Horcrux. Slughorn said it was possible to use a living being as one- e.g. Nagini...

I mean, it makes sense- Voldemort transfered some of himself to Harry, thus the Parsletongue, phoenix feather, etc- exactly 1/7 I wonder...

And in Chamber of Secrets, Riddle told Harry that only the heir of Slytherin could control the basilisk, and that Parsletongue wouldn't help-but Harry never spoke to it... If he had, and he was a horcrux, then the basilisk would have had to listen to him also, as Riddle was a horcrux himself (or the diary was)...

And Voldemort was going to finish Harry off- what if it wasn't the killing curse he was hit with but a binding ritual thing and then tried to kill him so he could use the skeleton of his would-have-been-antagonist as the Horcrux regardless if he was an infant? Voldemort is sick- the fact that he wants a genocide of all people without magic kind of gives him away...

Since the curse bounced off Harry, it shouldn't have left a mark- I think that his scar's a horcrux mark. AND if Harry is an heir of Gryffindor, disregarding how unlikely that would be, then Voldemort would have something from Gryffindor- therefore completing the list- the locket, the snake, the ring, the diary, the cup of Hufflepuff and something of Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. That's seven items which he wants.

So I think Harry will have to destroy the other Horcruxes then, having weakened Voldemort so he is simply a strong opponent but is beatable, duel him, kill him, then turn around and kill himself...

Ron and Hermione will marry and have a first-born son named Harry, Ginny will be depressed, but then do something with her life, Snape will have turned out to be in cahoots in the plan to kill Voldemort for reasons we haven't discovered, and the wizarding world will begin to clean up the mess Voldemort gave while honoring Harry even more than he was- e.g. statues, national holidays, etc.
