Curious about the sequence of events for Hartt admissions. Their website says that the department in Hartt will contact the U. of H. admissions office to let them know their decision, after which UH will decide about whether the student is admitted academically. My son auditioned a couple of weeks ago (regular decision, not early notification) and just got a letter from U of H admissions, telling him he was accepted academically and that he should schedule his audition! Um…

Sounds like at least one other recent auditioner has received a similar letter, so we’re wondering if they have changed their procedure and simply not updated the website. Anyone with current information? We will e-mail them on Monday, but I’m guessing their offices may still be closed for a few days post-snowstorm!

Thanks DramamamaSD-I figured theirs might come out a little later than expected with the death of Kevin Gray. I’m sure that really effected the community as a whole and then to have to put a class together in the midst of that-it has to be difficult.

I just read the news about Kevin Gray. That is incredibly sad news! My D has been telling me all about Kevin since she met him at her audition at the Unified Auditions in L.A… One of the really exciting prospects for her of going to the Hartt School was to be able to work with Kevin. What a loss to the school and to the whole Arts industry.

Keenspirit6, as I mentioned on another thread Kevin Gray’s death was a huge loss to the students and faculty at Hartt. The way the kids have handled themselves, their resiliency and their dedication, makes me proud D is part of this loving and supportive community. In their short time together, Kevin impacted our kids in ways that will be with them for the rest of their lives. While he is irreplaceable, I have not doubt that Alan Rust will continue to bring in working professionals of Kevin’s calibre to teach and inspire.

Walker, don’t guess yet. I just talked to my D there last night and she mentioned that last year Hartt’s letter came very last to most of her friends. (She had applied early notification).

My D had sent an email about making sure they had her letters of recommendation because that was not checked off on the web page and he told her that the decision letters will be out shortly…so we wait longer.

We noticed the same issue with my D. Did they confirm that they had your daughter’s recommendations? Are recommendations required? I cannot remember!

^^Hartt requires two artistic recommendations. We haven’t been checking on them b/c my son’s academic acceptance already came through–have you guys gotten that yet?

I thought artistic ones were required. They didn’t specifically say they had the letters, they said that her file was complete. I did email both admissions at the same time stating I didn’t know which one to check with. Theatre admissions said the letters would be out shortly and Hartford admissions said postmarked by April 1st.

Don’t know if it means anything, but my son’s web account this morning had a new indication that his application was accepted/admitted student - when I clicked the new link it asked for deposit and shows his admitted status as BFA -MT.
