Hartt admissions: new process?

mcpcwhite - my son has the same – can’t remember if that is actually new?
What a system all these schools have!

No its new on mine.

According to Admissions, if you can access a tuition deposit admitted/accepted link for The Hartt School at top of the page, it’s an acceptance. Letters are going out by April 1 but decisions are being put in individual student accounts.

Same thing here as well!

mcpcwhite- will the link say “The Hartt School” or “University of Hartford”. I have a student who has that link available but it says University of Hartford, but when they click it, it takes them to a page that says The Hartt School, Musical Theater. The student called and all the Admissions Officer would say was wait for the letter April 1st.

Once you press the link it says next to College: The Hartt School and the major, etc. and you can pay your deposit.

Also, when we call admissions we were told we would receive a decision shortly and that everything will be ok. LOL.

Would someone please post the link for the web account page? My son has already been accepted but I have never seen a web page for this school and I have a question I have a feeling may be answered on his web account…aarrgghh!!!

Go here and click the “online” link. If your son has an account set up (maybe not if you have not seen it) you can log in or create an account.

Thank you! Got it and signed in. The info I was hoping was there is not, I will be patient…it is becoming my mantra!!!

djexpress- that’s what my student has on their page (College: The Hartt School, Major: Musical Theatre), but I’m still hesitant to believe its a Hartt acceptance and not just a U Hartford acceptance. I want to believe though!

I can only report what I was told but obviously its official when the letter comes! Also there was a thread about this very thing from the 2011 admissions that seems to bear out the truth of this.

I can tell you that my son was accepted for the Acting BFA and when I click on the link to make the deposit, it shows he is attending The Hartt School and is in Acting Training. Hope this helps you believe, MTCoachNYC!

We got a curious call today from admissions. A couple of things were missing to complete the admissions process. I was surprised that they called. Wouldn’t it have been more efficient to email? I didn’t talk to them, my D did. I think I may call them tomorrow to see if they can tell me if they need it overnighted or something. Ugh, it’s impossible to read minds! I’m going to read my magic 8 ball to see if they are just toying with us.

MTCoachNYC, I would believe. I actually spoke to admissions today.
The woman told me that if they have the link to deposit and it says Hartt School,
Music Theatre then it is an acceptance. She went into the computer system and looked my sons account up to verify for me.
He had been accepted on 3/17. She was very nice and said that a letter would be mailed soon.

Thanks for all the reassurance. When my student called, they put them on hold a few times and then just said “you’ll get a letter April 1st”. It’s weird that they tell some people and not others. It didn’t make me feel too positive. The 2011 thread and the rest of your comments help. I guess we just have to wait!

Okay, MTCoachNYC—it is definitely apparent that my D and your student could very well be classmates in the future! :D

Also, I think maybe they are a little nicer to parents in giving information.

djexpress- I hope so! I don’t usually obsess so much, but I know Hartt is a perfect fit for this student and a top choice! I’ll definitely keep in touch because once the letters go out I can get them in touch!

The good news, the obsessing is getting me closer to the 15 messages I need to PM people… lol

LOL  I admire you coaches and what you do for these students. I love how invested you are in each student college decision.

Can you tell me why you feel this is the perfect fit? I only ask because my D wants a conservatory program with a family feel and supportive environment. We do not know as much about Hartt as her other pics except that she LOVED them after meeting faculty. We are planning a visit. It is one of her top choices as well, but it was not even on the radar until three weeks prior to her audition.

I had a close friend who went to Hartt in the early 2000s which is how I first heard about it. I have had a bunch of students apply there and 2 are currently students there and LOVE it. A family feel and a supportive environment is DEFINITELY a huge part of the program. On top of that, the training is VERY VERY rigorous and I know that most of my students are looking for training that will “kick them in the butt”. Additionally, Hartt really cares about acting and I know that a lot of programs stress singing or dance over the acting and Hartt really works all three. One of the great things about Hartt is that you are REQUIRED to perform every semester from sophomore year on. Some kids are lucky to do one show in their years at college, and at Hartt, you will do AT LEAST 6-- maybe more. The balance between love and support and rigorous training is a hard one to find and Hartt really seems to have it. I see kids at other schools who have the family but not the rigorous training or vice versa.

YES! Hartt sounds like a program my daughter would absolutely love. She loves performing. She wants to work all three disciplines and some music theatre programs are weak in one of the areas. How would you compare Hartt with OCU? My daughter loves the idea of possibly performing opera and musical theatre. We have heard in the past that the acting there is not as strong as its vocal and dance, but there may have been some adjustments.

Thanks so much for your input.
