Maybe I’m being optimistic, but I can’t imagine Harvard not going to the waitlist. At the very least, I think they will admit a similar amount to last year.
I’m on the brown fb page and they’ve started pulling from the waitlist… people who got off the waitlist are posting.
congrats!
This thread became toxic really quick, yikes.
From this thread alone and a few others, it seems as though most elite schools have started pulling from the waitlist. Although it’s frustrating being one of the last waitlist-ers to hear back, hang in there guys! Hopefully it’s just a couple more days…
stay safe, and although it’s hard, try not to make yourself crazy by overthinking.
Pretty sure Harvard is one of the only schools who has not started from the waitlist yet, or that we know of.
Someone on reddit just posted that they were contacted by an AO asking to do a 30-45 minute zoom call.
dartmouth sent an email today saying that their class is currently full, but are keeping the waitlist open for a while longer because they anticipate gap years I presume
@Cjhastings322 what thread on reddit?
@optimisticsenior I can’t link to it on CC, but it’s called “Harvard Waitlist Email”
I know people in the past have gotten waitlist interviews the week before acceptances roll out, but do we have any idea how many they actually offer, and if people have gotten accepted without one?
The reddit poster said that they never sent in a LOCI. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems like they use these interviews to vet students they want to admit who either never received an alumni interview or didn’t send in a LOCI.
Did the poster not get an alum interview either?
@staylor1490 They did not clarify. Only said they didn’t send a LOCI.
I have heard that usually interviews at this stage are only to clarify confusing items in the app or to assess interest, which makes sense send the poster didn’t send a LOCI. Regardless, this means they are looking at waitlist applicants now and 1) Will use the list to some extent otherwise wouldn’t be interviewing 2) Hopefully news will come relatively soon
The user just posted that they received an alumni interview, and their zoom call is scheduled for tomorrow.
In the past, most applicants off the waitlist did not interview with an AO. Only a select few have.
Do you know if this was the wave from April 23 or was this recent?
Seeing as Dartmouth is full, and apparently so is Yale/MIT, it doesn’t appear that the ongoing pandemic is affecting yield to top schools/ivys.
If the person were getting off the waitlist during the meeting, it would make no sense for it to be 30 - 45 minutes. I think others on the thread are right in that the key was that the person did not submit a LOCI.
I am not sure, but the person made a post on the page on May 2. I think the pandemic may be affecting the yield.
