Harvard and SATs...

Heya, this is not really a chance me thread, but more of a question...

I'm an international student, I was born in Israel and lived there until I was 13, and then I moved to Thailand and lived here for 6 years.

My last SAT score was 2060, but I'm taking it again this weekend so hopefully it will be much more.

My question is, even with a score of 2060 - can I get into Harvard?
I'm taking the IB diploma, and I chose the most challenging courses: HL - Maths, Physics, Chemistry. SL - English A1, Business and Management, Spanish Ab Initio.

I'm predicted a 44-45/45 for IB. I don't really know how to covert this to GPA but I know these scores are excellent, especially for the courses I chose.

I do A LOT of ECs:
-Initiator and President of Amnesty International Club in my city (4 years)
-Interact Rotary Club: Member, Secretary, Club Committee Chairperson (3 years)
-(Green) House Captain and I won yay
-House Competition Coordinator (1 year - you can only do this in your last year of school here)
-Leadership Pillar Leader (1 year - same reason)
-Prefect (1 year - same reason)
-Public Debating Club member and supervisor (4 years)
-Duke of Edinburgh / International Award (2 years, Silver)
-Form Representative and Student Guild Member (2 years)
-Global Issues Network (2 years)
-Round Square Delegate for the Regional Conference in Singapore
-Round Square Delegate for the International Conference in Canada
-Initiator and manager of the Goh Pai project: working with and educating kids in the slums (4 years)
-Initiator and manager of the "Green Bottles" project - recycling bottles, getting money for it, and donating it to the Baan Jing Jai Orphanage (3 years)
-Volunteer at the Mercy Center orphanage (2 years)
-Animal Rights club Initiator and Supervisor (2 years)
-Drama Production Club (5 years)
-Burapha Golf Tennis League (4 years)
-Guitar Playing (5 years)
-I have my own business of graphics and web design (4 years)
-I have my own "after school activity" of teaching Adobe Flash to children (3 years)
-Green House Football Team Supervisor and Member (2 years member, 1 year supervisor)
-Round Square (ECs that relate to service and environmentalism) award 2007
-School News Paper initiator (1 year)
-Scientist Apprentice (assistant) in the university of Bar Ilan (2 years)
-That's all I can remember at the moment. I'm sure there are more, I just can't remember all I did in the last 6 years. My school is very big on stuff like that so I get lots of opportunities.

I have excellent recommendations, won lots of academic awards EVERY year since I've been in this school (Best in the department of... English, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Business and Management, Languages [Spanish], and overall Academic Excellence award)

I've got enough money to not apply for financial aid, and I think I have a rather exotic background - I mean, they don't see many Israelis that lived in Thailand, I bet...
I've got pretty great ECs, pretty great IB scores, especially considering the subjects I take, and the SATs are not THAT bad...

But I know that 2060 is lower than what most people in Harvard have, and I'll try my best this weekend to up my score. I didn't take my SATII yet, but I don't think they'll be a problem, considering how I do on the subjects (Physics and Maths) in school.

But, say that I try to get in with that score of 2060 - do I still have a chance at Harvard?
(hmm, maybe this was a chance me thread..?)

i really hope you have a good chance and get in cause i’m the same.
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/international-students/801761-attempt-ivy-league-not.html

i see you’ve listed all of your ecs but ill add the rest in the application although i’m javing second thoughts whether i should send every detail of my ec work.

so chance you - chance me ? :)

i know an international who got in with you stats, a bit less ecs, equally strong ones (maybe eve a bit stronger) and a similar sat score (a bit smaller one). I guess you have a good chance of getting in but you should apply for a few of the best because youre going for the “i’m different, a lot and my flaws like the sat is also a part of my unique application” thing so it’s a good chance but with some and some not - i think cornell is a certain reach (or upenn) and the hypsm are near. is a thing of chance but they arent far fetched - a good chance. certainly.

now do mine :)

Your SAT score is your largest weakeness, perhaps with your international status as well.

Your extracurriculars look great but at this point it’s looking like a laundry list and you’re only doing things to get into college. Maybe you should try only focusing on the ones that you want the adcoms to really focus on so you can emphasize your strengths.
