Harvard App Extracurricular Question

This is my first post, so I apologize if I have posted in the wrong forum.

I've a few days left before submitting my applications to a few selective institutions, and the Harvard "Briefly elaborate upon one of your extracurricular activities" prompt is giving me a bit of trouble. I'm torn between two: the school newspaper, which I lead, or Boy Scouts, which I led for a few years before becoming an Eagle Scout. Both show leadership and commitment; I was in both for the entirety of my education, rising to the top as time passed. However, for the newspaper I did get to interview Dr. Santa Ono, a Harvard graduate and a former professor, who is now the president of the University of Cincinnati. Just wondering if that would show more determination and reflect better upon the officers than being an Eagle would.

So which should I use?

Also, I reached out to Dr. Ono and worked with him for about two months to set up the interview, not the other way around (he heavily recruits area schools). I also forgot to add that I managed to get an ESPN expert to do an interview as well, so I’m not afraid to take a risk or go the metaphorical extra mile for good content.

The newspaper sounds like something you’re really passionate about and it sounds a little more unique with the extra interviews. Both are good topics, but I’d go for the newspaper!

I think either one can be crated into a fine essay. Personally, I would go for the newspaper.
