I've been nominated and apparently there will be a round table discussing a topic of choice that I should prepare before hand. So apparently the top student from all high schools will be competing so I'm wondering if it's worth the effort? Does anyone know because I don't want to waste my precious time while I could be having FUN.

Book awards don’t really matter.

ya, they really don’t mean much, but it is very hard to get a book award. If you win it, feel honored. Where I live, they just choose you based on the school’s recommendation for the specific school. I somehow got the Princeton Book Award last year. I had no idea it was coming. In the college admission process, no, it’s not too important. It can’t be too much work to apply. I would apply if you don’t need to write an essay.

Thanks guys now I don’t feel as bad. Plus I’m really not interested in doing work just to get into college.

Yeah, tons of people get them. Basically top 3 at my school get Harvard/Yale/Princeton.
