Harvard CC EA Statistics

On the Harvard EA Roster, there were 76 people. If I counted correctly, 75 people have posted their results as of now. The ratio Accepted: Deferred: Rejected is 24: 50: 1. I didn't check to see if the names on the EA roster and the stats roster are the same, but if they do match up, those are some pretty amazing statistics! 33% acceptance rate!

I contemplated applying to the Harvard COB just to get a rejection letter. I thought if W got in, I would be a shoo-in.

Wow, I'm so jealous of the Harvard people!!!!

Hopefully Yale wont be a massacre this year like it was last year. Good luck to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love you all!!!!!! And I know each and EVERY one of us deserves to go to Yale.

I think that was a Harvard massacre.

Don't forget that Harvard only rejected 135 people early and deferred most of the class. Thus, not to be a downer, but don't expect such lovely results from Yale later this week.

we can still pray... :)

Agreed. Furthermore, Harvard's results really aren't that great-- if they only rejected 135, they will surely reject a huge chunk of current deferrees. At least with Yale, we may have a better shot of admission after deferral. What bothers me about what Harvard did is that deferral seems somewhat meaningless.

Those stats are great, not dismal. Isn't that more than double of what the national average for accepted EA applicants to harvard is?

a lot of the acceptees were lurkers that just began posting after reading their acceptances. there r prolly many other lurkers who got deferred who didn't decide to post. i don't think cc and its lurkers have extrodinariily high %ages of acceptance...but no deferred lurker would post.

Ariesdrgn is absolutely correct

its 21% acceptance.

Harvard was slightly harder than last year and nowhere near as bad as the Yale EA massacre last year. Unfortunately the EA massacre looks likely to repeat itself this year seeing as the numbers didn't change much. Take heart into the fact that the massacre for many is just a postponement of acceptance until April. It's still hard for deferrees to get in, but nowhere near as hard as deferrees at other schools and RD kids at Yale.

Oh man, it's 2:25 in the morning, and I'm up worrying about Yale.

Anyone else?

Yes! Only 12:25 here. I was on my way to bed and I was going to set out my favorite navy Yale shirt to wear tomorrow and I CAN'T FIND IT. I always know exactly where it is. I've spent the last hour searching. I cleaned out its drawer several times, searched all over my room, sorted through all the clothes in the laundry room...and no Yale shirt :( This is a bad sign.

It means you're in... and you no longer need the Yale shirt because u're going to get the real thing.

I looked at the results and I was like...whoa...maybe I should have applied EA to Harvard. Why must I like the MOST HARDCORE EA school around best?

The craziest thing about that particular musing is that I'm not even applying to Harvard RD. I'm starting to think I should have, but shrug oh well. I'm just happy to be done with all my apps.

I think this year's Harvard EA was a slaughter. Simply looking at percentages is misleading.

Look closely at the sticky on Zuma-format stats page. Look at the quality of students getting deferred. It is borderline ridiculous. For the most part, the deferred students could've gotten in at almost any other school as a near-lock. Average deferred SAT was probably around 1550.

I agree uber, if that's the average deferred profile, wait til the RD rouund, that's gonna be such a massacre, with some of the best students that there are. With Harvard deferring about 75% of the whole EA applicant pool, it makes you think, is there a point in applying EA there?... i much prefer the way Yale balances out the EA and RD rounds.

I also agree completely with Ariesdrgn, don't take CC EA stats as representative of this site's users, quite a few are lurkers and i'm sure loads of people who got rejected or deferred didn't post.

yeah, i'm sure if i were still a lurker (eww i hate that word!), i would only post if i got accepted.

For what it's worth, the first time my daughter ever posted on CC was after she was deferred at Yale last year (and found comfort in seeing how many qualified applicants shared her fate).
