@gibby@T26E4@skieurope and other vet posters. I think Harvard has the most number of athletic groups, who’s recruits will be accepted during EA. I also hear that most legacies apply and get accepted during EA. Probably people with any other hooks also apply and get admitted during EA.
Are there any stats out there which shows how many of the ~900 acceptances in the EA round goes to such people?
Class of 2020 EA acceptance rate = 14.8%
If 100 are “hook”, EA acceptance rate of “non-hook” = 13.39%
If 200 = 11.94%
If 400 = 8.89%
If 600 = 5.62%
Hope it is like 100 or 200 and not 500!
I know there is nothing I can do about it, but will at least give us “unhooked” aspirants an idea of the real “non-hook” acceptance percentage.
Within the Ivy League, probably correct. I believe that Harvard’s athletic recruits number about 205 annually, and one should assume that they all applied SCEA.
Well, I just burst your bubble above, so we know that 100 and 200 are not the right numbers.
The legacy number attending is also about 200 annually, but I do not believe that they all apply SCEA, nor do I have any type of guess of that number. However, unlike recruited athletes, legacy gives a bit of a bump, but is not nearly a sure thing.
@MedSciBud@rsmith0208 I applied on October 13 and received a call regarding my interview October 15. I had my interview on October 25 after school. We mostly talked about my extracurriculars and how Harvard has impacted my interviewer.
@david_p Don’t contact admissions. Interviews are decentralized and assigned to local groups. THey will contact you (or not, if there aren’t enough volunteers). Regardless, contacting Cambridge won’t get you one or one any faster.
Could someone confirm the total number of recommenders for Harvard? I found the required recommendation letters from 1) counselor and 2) two teachers AND TWO optional recommenders. Is this correct?
@TiggerDad - you are correct. The maximum allowed by Common App for Harvard is 1 counselor, 2 teachers, and 2 “other”, and you and @CrimsonZa are correct - the 2 “others” are “optional”
