Harvard Class of 2021 SCEA Applicants Discussion

@CrimsonZa Did you take any action from your side to initiate the interview process or did Harvard contact you by itself ?

@sungirl. He asked me to elaborate on some things I mentioned in my app and it kinda had a lot too do with what I had put in my app. Most of my questions were the same as CrimsonZa’s

@seeadmit Harvard contacted by itself

How not to stress: Write essays for other schools,Listen to music, Read, Watch TV, Study, Go on CC so u see that there are tons of ppl going through the same thing…These r what I do. Dec 15 is only a month or so away. We’ll get there!

@yerin2021 thank you for the respond:)

@sungirl what did your interviewer say?

Anyone think i have no chance bc my interviewer was 15 minutes?

Why do you think it lasted only for 15 mins?

@nillupa Yup.

Ghesh…mine was an hour. They don’t put a lot of weight on interviews though. I wouldn’t stress about it.

What I have heard is interviews are ranked 1-6 (6 is highest). Only 1s and 6s matter and most fall in the middle so not much significance to interviews.

@nillupa - looks like interviews with AOs are shorter than those with alumni. I would not equate that with chances.
@Dreamliner - did you get your login issue taken care of?

@krauser126 can u give me some input on why u said yes. Thanks

What is the max number of recommendation letters we can send to Harvard? On Naviance, it says 3 but some alumni students say they submited max of 5. My 4th recommender sent in his letter last week, but on Naviance it still says “In Progress” so I’m not sure if its just a system error or Harvard won’t allow more than 3… D: please help!

@lemon415 - I dont know anything about Naviance, but CA allows 1 counselor, 3 teachers, and 2 others, so total 6. But most people advise against sending too many recs, because things get repetitive / boring. If additional recs add a lot of value and talk about something that the others have not talked about, may be worth it.

@nillupa - I can’t talk for @krauser126, but I am sure he was just kidding. No one, definitely not any other applicant like myself or @krauser126 can tell you for sure what the outcome of your interview will be. At this point, my only suggestion to you is to send a nicely worded, short-but-sweet, thank you note to your interviewer, appreciating his / her time blah blah blah.

@MedSciBud - thanks for the info! Where are those numbers for rec letters listed on the common app? Im having a hard time finding them!

@lemon415 - login to CA, then click on My Colleges, then on the “+” symbol next to Harvard, then on the “Recommenders and FERPA”. You will see “Counselor”, then under “Teacher” - “Required: 2, Optional: 1, Total: 3”, and under “Other Recommender” - “Required: 0, Optional: 2, Total: 2”.

@MedSciBud thank you so much!!

I just had my interview! I think it went very well. Not sure if there’s anything I can do at this point, so I’ll just sit back and relax. B-)
