@ahmedsheta Good luck for your interview by the way! I’m assuming it’s with an admissions officer over Skype as well?
@watsoncrick99 Actually I thought this would be the case, but mine is a recent Harvard graduate who lives in the same country. However, he is living in another city, so if I am not able to travel we will have ours through a video call.
For you, best of luck!!
How many SCEA applicants from India have got an interview? and in which cities?
I am from India too and still waiting for an interview call. Anyone else in the same boat?
I showed that there is not anyone in my country who can take an interview, for this reason the only thing I need do is to wait for the decision
I have my interview coming up. When people say to bring a resume just in case, does that mean a list of extracurriculars? Should I just print the list of extracurriculars on my commonapp?
Some schools tell you not to bring anything, but I couldn’t find any information on what to/not to bring to a Harvard interview. I decided to bring a resume (extracurriculars/awards), copy of my essay, ACT, and transcript. I offered it to my interviewer and he said it would help him. If your interviewer doesn’t want it, then no harm done.
In retrospect, I could have just printed out a copy of my Common App which has everything he’d need to know.
@pineapple86 My interviewer said that they used to be allowed to ask for a full transcript and your resume but recently Harvard has recommended that they only accept items that are offered and that they cannot ask for them.
My S offered his resume and alumni took it.
I really wanted an interview because I feel like I can express myself way better through interviews, but I didn’t get contacted for one. Do you think I have a chance to get an interview from Harvard?
@bsbamd - from what I have read. (1) Interviews are pretty much just a formality - no added advantage for having one - no disadvantage whatsoever for not having one, (2) If you have not been contacted, it is because (a) no volunteers in your area or (b) the volunteer you were assigned to was not responsible enough to contact you, (3) It might be too late to get a request now, but you still do have a chance.
Why would Harvard use the exact same wording as UVA? They wouldn’t. @applying2017 I’m worried this could be prank, but for the recipient’s sake I hope it’s not! That would be a cruel joke.
@Tobster18 Please be respectful.
Harvard SCEA doesn’t require quarter or mid-first-semester grades, right? One of my teachers just decided not to “do” grades so half the class had an F for the quarter grade (which mean nothing GPA-wise in my school). I had a C because she just never put in half of our assignments. Now I’m back up to an A.
@pineapple86 Yeah you’re fine
If your school has the two-term system, they will only see/have access to your semester grades.
People!! Harvard lost the game this year. :(( I seriously thought that this wouldn’t happen.
Hope my application was not read the day after the game!
@MedSciBud lol yeah me too. I hadn’t thought of that.
I’m applying from China and just got an interview notice a few days ago. It’s gonna be on Nov. 26th. Strange enough I was not directly contacted by my interviewers, but instead a “middleman” of sorts. Only limited interviews are offered here and I have to travel to Beijing to meet my interviewers, so I’d take this as a good sign.
@kurtgu9903 - good luck. Suggest you confirm the validity of the interview request because of the middleman. I am not from China, so I can’t tell if that is usual or not.
I believe Harvard contracts a private company in China to be a vetting service due to the prevalence of fraud, bribery, exaggerated school documentation, etc.
These interviews will be videotaped and all sorts of verifications will be required.
Good luck, @kurtgu9903. Make sure you bring all the documentation they request.
