Didn’t do supplement essay. Councilor advised not too. Ugh
Just called admissions…they are not confirming the 13th; only will say mid-December. I know what the article said, but I’m still not sold on the 13th. They have never released on a Thursday before…
@jamieevren1210 Really? I come from Portugal and there is also only one Portuguese student currently studying at Harvard College…
Guys, I made a small mistake on my CA, as I just noticed. On some of my activities, I ended the description with a period, while on others I didn’t. I know this sounds trivial, but will they pick up on that?
@fedfan1998 - if it took you this long to find this fault (assuming that you consider it a fault) - do you really think the AOs and adcomms have time to find it?
@Ceciliaagnes - curious - when you called - did you tell them that the Crimson published an article with the date? Eitherways - we will know in about 5 days if the decisions are out or not!
@Ceciliaagnes Its on their article they published so I don’t think they’d lie about something like that.
I’m not saying they would lie, I’m just saying maybe she was misled? I tend to doubt everything though, especially information I cannot verify. And yes @MedSciBud, I said that I saw the date in an article in The Crimson, and he was very nice and said that all they are confirming right now is that decisions will be released by mid-December.
Harvard and cornell both released decisioms on the same day last year, December 10. Cornell is releasing theirs today. Do u think harvard will release theirs today?
I think we would get an email notification telling us when it will be up. Can anyone confirm?
@Batwing99, I went through last year’s thread, and they did not receive an email until the portal was updated with the decision.
@Ceciliaagnes Would you mind sharing the link to that thread here? I’m trying to find it but can’t…
@Ceciliaagnes - thank you for that info. Per Ms. Ellis (the staff writer)'s reply to me, she got the date from the Dean. She also replied to another CCer that she got the date from the admissions office. Not sure why H just can’t set a date and communicate openly to all - they know students and parents are anxious, but I believe they have some genuine reasons why they are unable to do that. Having said that, all we can do is wait and watch. As of now, I am counting down to Dec 13th at 5pm. If no decisions at that time, I will restart the countdown to Dec 15th at 5pm - and so on…
Hey all - looks like we had a lot more pledges (to enter the results on the results thread) before the moderator deleted it from this thread (and we started a new thread) than there are now. **Are people not willing to share their results? **Remember - us sharing results will be very useful to future applicants - like previous years’ results were useful to all of us.
Here is the pledge thread. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/20113282/#Comment_20113282
@skieurope and @T26E4 , thank you so much! My friend found out about her acceptance that way in the spring when she went on a campus visit–of course, there is no way I would fly cross-country even if Harvard did do that! Come to think of it, even if I were on a campus visit for any university I wouldn’t want to find out that way.
@stresstasticlife Unless your friend rec’d a Likely Letter as an athlete or some other sort of highly coveted applicant (which is very possible), Harvard is prohibited from giving a formal offer to anyone before the Ivy agreed upon spring notification date. It’s simply impossible barring the likely letter scenario. Perhaps something is missing in the conveyance of the facts.
No Ivy can offer formal offers per the Ivy Agreement – this is to avoid sniping each others’ great recruits. It’s been in place for decades. For 2016, it was Mar 31.
EA/ED is not coordinated and they are free to announce whenever they wish. I highly doubt the people at Cambridge or Ithaca care when each is announcing decisions and there’s no outside pressure on H to match Cornell’s decision date. I’m sure H chose its date completely due to internal needs and exigencies
For people that have called Harvard–did they not give a concrete decision date?
@banananana11 - I think only one person called so far and they were told “mid-december”. The only things close to confirmation of the date we have are the Crimson article and the replies the staff writer wrote to two of us.
