Stealing this letter from @psywar that I found posted in the Princeton threads. He sent it to his son the night before their EA release last year. It is truly beautiful, touched my heart, and I hope it can do the same to you all as well. In light of the immense stress during these past couple months-especially today-I figured it would be beneficial for our community.
Son,
This night before you receive your Princeton response, we wanted to let you know that we could not be any prouder of you than we are today. Whether or not you get accepted does not determine how proud we are of everything you have accomplished and the wonderful person you have become. That will not change based on what the admissions officers decide. We will celebrate if you get accepted, and commiserate if you don’t. But your worth as a person, a student and our son is not diminished or influenced in the least by what a college decides.
If this doesn’t go your way, you’ll take a different route to get where you want. There is not a single college that would not be lucky to have you.
We love you all the way around the world and back again, and wherever you are headed it will be awesome!
Good luck to everyone. My time zone is 13 hours ahead of EST so (presumably) the decision would be there when I wake up. Not that I’m counting on getting accepted though.
For the time being, let’s all just scream all day okay
@johonmilla - From what I have read, likely letters are for RD only. No reason to do that for EA, because EA applicants have applied pretty much only to that one school. Plus - there is not much time for that in the EA cycle.
Thanks for posting… My son attends an Independent School in, California. We reside in Compton, California and are a complete WRECK! How do you feel about your chances of getting into HARVARD?
@damon17 My son is from Compton, California and attends an Independent School… We are terrified of the outcome of his acceptance. Wishing you the BEST of LUCK!
