I am of the opinion that they (and many other colleges) do this all the time, although I don’t think yours is a soft rejection. Those often go to legacy/development kids that are not accepted, IMO.
From what I’ve hear Duke has started reaching into the waitlist and Dartmouth notified applicants they won’t be using the waitlist at all this year. I know this doesn’t relate to Harvard but it’s something.
Called again this morning. They said that they’ll know how many people will be taken off of the waitlist by early next week.
My daughter is on the waitlist. Keep fingers crossed.
Just wondering what colleges you guys had committed to.
Lol @ILoveStanford you’re about to generate some response bias
@ILoveStanford University of Oklahoma for me
I was going to ask the same thing! Be nice to get to know you all, since this process may last for quite some time…
Anyways, I’m committed to Rice! With a generous merit scholarship, residential college system, collaborative student body, and awesome pre-med opportunities, (barring a call) I’m excited to attend.
@Gh0st3737 did you get the one thats 28k a year?
@Batwing99 Same one, but mine was 25.5k
@Gh0st3737 That’s awesome! Where are you from?
Houston actually! Initially went into the whole process ready to get out of Texas, but Rice presented too good of a case to pass up. Plus, I’ve moved around a bunch throughout my life (2/3s of my life overseas), so it will be interesting to stay in one place for an extended period of time. Wbu?
I’ve committed to Dartmouth!
Committed to Brown!
What did you guys send to H? I sent a LOCI & an updated resume, tho at this point they prob won’t make a difference. Not feeling very optimistic
@IvyKid1 I sent a LOCI which contained updates to my resume along with a letter of recommendation from the library volunteer coordinator. Just remember, whatever happens, to not forget to mosey on in life with a purpose and a drive. On a slightly different note, I am feeling a little optimistic, but that might just be my never give up till it’s done attitude.
I’ve committed to Columbia.
Also committed to Columbia! Don’t know if I’d pass up NYC even if I got off H waitlist
My daughter has committed to Georgetown
Wished I had chosen Columbia. I decided money was more important so I’m going to UVA. Harvard and Princeton are the only two schools that I’m waitlisted at that I would consider paying full cost for.
