Harvard Class of 2021 Waitlisted Discussion

@cyberzombies012 same! Brown seemed really laid back and open compared to other ivies. I think anyone would be happy there anyways

@skibreak I have a friend from my school who was also in the same meme group chat but did not post any memes himself. There is also a post on reddit/r/applyingtocollege about this incident.

Any updates as far as yield?

Anyone know if those 12 kids had already committed? I guess it was after the may 1st deadline.

@JulieBurns it was before may 1st but i believe some of them were Early Action and didn’t apply anywhere else

would all of you take a spot on the z-list over your current school? i know i would for sure.

@barackhussein: Nah. If it comes to that, I’ll settle into Columbia for undergrad and put my Harvard dreams on hold until law school… kind of like your namesake.

It appears that the first wave of waitlist offers last year went out on Wednesday, May 11th. Tomorrow is Wednesday, May 10th. Here’s hoping that we hear something soon.

I just called the office, and they said that the committee still has not made the decision to use the waitlist for this year…

@hiplstakedis :frowning: that doesn’t sound so good

Don’t be too worried about it. Check the Penn 2021 Waitlist thread. An admissions officer told a person who called that they haven’t decided to use the waitlist yet when they obviously have taken people off the waitlist already. Perhaps Harvard is behind or is withholding information for some reason.

seems like their yield rate could have increased a lot this year ;(

Our chances aren’t looking good. I called Harvard and the guy said they’re not even sure if they’ll use the waitlist this year. He said they hope to know sometime this week.

@realityhitshard Do we know if that’s them withholding information/being behind schedule, or actually due to an increase in yield this year?

This may be wishful thinking but I think they are just giving the standard speech. I wouldn’t take it too hard until formal announcements start coming through.

Heard that the yield rate is nearly 84% and announcement will be out tomorrow morning.

@WarriorJ Looks like no waitlist then. How did you find out?

I feel as though if Harvard knew for sure that they weren’t going to use the waitlist because of high yield, they would have told us. Why hide that?

@WarriorJ sources?

If it truly is an 84% yield it seems that Harvard might have some trouble housing everyone. 2044*0.84 = 1717

I believe there are only 1660 beds, so this might get kinda interesting.
