If I were Bill Gates, I would seriously consider going back to Harvard College to finish my degree. He has the money and time (now that he's retiring). Maybe he could be reinstated as an undergraduate and pick up wherever he left off. It would certainly be great PR for Harvard.

The man has several honorary doctorates...why would he go back to college?

Finish something he started. EARN a degree. Learn some more.

Um...I don't think that Bill Gates really cares to go back to college. Does anyone think less of him because he didn't finish college? No. After all, though a degree is an honor in its own right, it isn't the main goal. The main goal of going to college is to prepare for a career. Skipping the middle step just saves time. Going to college doesn't automatically mean sucess. I know an Ivy league graduate who became a substitute teacher. He considers himself a failure. (His words, not mine.)

Besides, he can either A. Help combat Aids-maybe get a Nobel Peace Prize or B. Finish college and add another degree to his collection.

Hmm. Stop Aids or go to college. Easy choice to me.

You're right shark_bite, he should go to college.

;o)

Gates is 50 years old right now. Assuming he lives another 30 years or so, it seems that there's more than enough time for him to do both.

Elisabeth Shue came back 15 years after she started and graduated with the class of 2000, after she was already a movie star and won an Oscar and everything. She walked with her House at Commencement and everything. So I don't think it's impossible that a very accomplished person might want to finish his degree.

That being said, it's a different prospect for someone with a wife and kids who presumably have lives of their own in Seattle.

why the hell would he go back to harvard to finish his degree

for businesspeople, the purpose of attending harvard is to prove you are worthy. bill gates does not have time for this. mark zuckerberg, creator of facebook, also dropped out. his compan is now worth zillions.

bill gates can read wikipedia.org if he still wants to learn.

Elisabeth Shue is a good example of what I meant, Hanna. Gates returning to school isn't about proving anything to anyone other than himself. And this is just what I said I would do if I were him, not what he should do.
