Harvard EA Roster + Countdown

I'm going to play the Rocky theme song :).

haha, yeah and maybe REM's the end of the world.

harvard, you're breakin my heart,
you're driving me crazy daily
harvard, i'm down on my knees
i'm beggin you please let me in
cuz i love you!

hehe, I think this one would work too
REM-to Harvard

That’s me in the corner
That’s me in the spotlight
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with YOU
And I don’t know if I can do it

Hmmm... If I get the stuff done today that I need to get done, I'll try to make a "Harvard EArs" mix CD, and upload it for you guys.

Ubercollegeman-Do you like Mogwai? They're kind of math-indie, which makes me think you'd like it. "Sine wave" is an incredible song.

haha you guys are so funny. It would be a pleasure to go to school with all of you other harvard hopefuls.

Ah, Mogwai. Post Rock is lovely, isn't it?

If Harvard accepts me, I will play "I am the Resurrection" by the Stone Roses on repeat for hours. Ha ha. And then I will photocopy my acceptance letter, and plaster it all over my school... J/K.

I've been listening to some Xiu Xiu recently. Trying to get used to their brand of experimentalism :).

bach rocks!!

hi guys, this is my first post.
navy_blue/sociology/237

Xiu!

Wow... We get a new EA'er every day... Lots of people lurking, huh.

I just realized that the Stanford RD deadline is Dec. 1... Ha ha ha.

It's not Dec 1. It's Dec 15...

Dec. 1 is the recommended deadline.

wait...that's just the recommended deadline though!..right?

sigh of relief

On the way to my interview I listened to a lot of Reel Big Fish, especially "Cheer Up!", such a great, and appropriate song. "I'm Cool," "Everything Sucks," "Join the Club," and "Ban the Tube Top" were also very upbeat and happy...so they really helped out.

As for my interview, I did just like ya'll said- let it flooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwww. For example, we started off with a standard "What's your favorite class" question, and from there we ended up talking about the following: tragedy, Henrick Ibsen's "Ghosts," the Daily Show, CNN's Crossfire, Lewis Black, Hilary Clinton, John Galbraith, Presidential press club dinners, humorous political stories and books, the importance of leaving small towns (benefits of Harvard- broadening), along with the standard scores/grades/hobbies/etc. talk. So I enjoyed it, it was very laid back, not stressful or interrogation-feeling at all.

To the responses a few pages back regarding my feelings over my school not ranking and its effect on my AI:

Sorry, I was away for a few days. I guess I had just not read anything about the usage of AI at Harvard (or just nothing more recent than some college admissions books, which make AI seem more serious than it is), and I really didn't need to worry so much. Thanks guys.

Good luck to EAers, I'm sending my RD in this week.

Hey guys, I just saw this and I figured I should join. I want to major in economics and my AI is 235. I can't believe that we find out in less than two weeks - it's so crazy. Anyways, I had a question. I know that Harvard accepts around 1/3 of EA applicants, but does anyone know what percentage of EA's they defer and/or reject? Do you think more people get deferred than rejected? Thanks.

I forgot to ever add myself- sunglasses, undecided major/228.

I believe most people get deferred. I think I heard somewhere that only about 200 people get rejected EA, but I'm not sure about that statistic. Was it somewhere on this board or am I imagining things?

new song to add to the Harvard EAers CD! Beach Boy's, "Wouldn't it be nice"
Tweak the lyrics a little so it goes something along the lines of

Wouldn't it be nice if we were accepted
Then we wouldn't have to wait so long
And wouldn't it be nice to live together
In the kind of world where we belong

You know its gonna make it that much better
When we can say hello and stay together

Wouldn't it be nice if we could wake up
In the morning when the day is new
And after having spent the day together
Study for finals the whole night through

You know it seems the more we talk about it
It only makes it worse to live without it
But lets talk about it
Wouldn't it be nice

Yes...I'm definitely in a very whimsical, singsongy mood.

So the adcom uses deferral quite liberally and few people are rejected?
