ECs:
President of Young Greens, getting a Recc from Nader
Governor of Junior Statesman Massachusetts
Mayor of my Region
Attended Princeton and Yale JSA summer school
Class President since soph year

the only thing that might put you into the reject pile is the nader rec. it's the big corporations, man...they're all out to get us...just because i'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me...THE BIG CORPORATIONS OH MY GOD

Actually adcoms take letters from celebs with a grain of salt, they often assume that the student doesn't know the celebrity who is writing their rec. recall the celebrity in "The Gatekeepers" who wrote the rec for Jordan - it turns out they knew eachother very well, but even so the admissions officer skimmed over the letter and gave it little consideration.
However, your grades and ecs + legacy are quite good, and you ahve a pretty good shot.

edit: wait a minute, how the h*ll are you mayor?

wait...ramsfan, david--what did you almost believe???
Oh and HarvardWannabee, you are ridiculously qualified, but there is always a chance that admissions won't go your way.

WHAT?! So this IS REAL?! That's ridiculous, it seemed like a joke post or something ( I also thought the mayor thing was actual mayor which is obviously not true). I can't understand why someone with those qualifications would ever feel unsure their chances. I just can't believe t his is a real person. Congratulations, I guess

that's why i also wanted opinions from actual students who go there.

and i do realize that i don't technically have a legacy. My brother doesn't count because he's not my parent. only parents count. and grad school students don't count.

Actual students aren't much better at answering your question than the rest of us on CC, because their qualifications on paper aren't much different from many other students who got rejected (see the admissions results threads) And they don't get a vote on the admissions committee. Our opinions and the opinions of other H students aren't worth much. The only opinions that count are those of the adcoms. So it may be comforting to have someone here say "You're in", but it's not worth the electrons it is written with.

BTW, I think you will be a very strong candidate, but I would never be so foolish as to promise you that you are "in".

The fact that your brother attended Harvard is helpful, but you are not a legacy, since your parents did not go to Harvard undergraduate.

Think about this while you're filling out your application: Although you are an outstanding student, what sets you apart? Your ECs are pretty run of the mill, so it will be important for you to get across in your application how much you've gotten out of them.

As for the Nader rec, there's no reason not to include it, but I don't think it's going to do a lot for you.

Good luck! Don't stress! Enjoy your senior year!
