I want to apply to Harvard but I still have to retake the Sats and the subject tests but there is only one other available test date before early decision deadline. Will Harvard extend the early decision deadline for me if I let them know of my predicament?
No. Many people are in your shoes, so they cannot.
Why can’t you take it on the date available?
@babybottlecop - you can take both October and November tests:
https://college.harvard.edu/admissions/apply/application-timeline
Take the SAT on one of those dates, and 2 SAT subjects tests on the other, and you’re good.
- Harvard no longer requires SAT Subject Tests, so you just need to take the SAT in October: https://college.harvard.edu/admissions/apply/application-process/sat-subject-tests
- Harvard is on record as saying that they don't take anyone in the SCEA round that that wouldn't take in the RD round. That's Admissions-speak for "We take the best-of-the-best in the SCEA round." Unless your SAT is above 2200 (and you won't know that until you get the results back), you stand a good chance of being deferred in the SCEA round, as Admissions will want to compare you to a broader range of applicants. That's essentially a waste of your early slot, as your goal should be have at least one acceptance in your back pocket come mid-December. So, you might want to rethink your strategy and apply to a broad range of non-binding schools in the early round (many college's dont' require the SAT: http://www.fairtest.org/university/optional), and apply to Harvard in the RD round.
I have to interject that the very idea that Harvard would do such a thing based on something as universal as when the SAT and subject tests are offered is absurd. I don’t mean that in a mean way towards you, but this is a case where the truth should be plainly spoken.
I have to take either the SAT or the subject tests on those days. Not both
Then take one Oct, one Nov.
This is not unique. Many kids are in this situation, either bc the need to improve scores or they did not plan well.
I can take either the SAt subj tests or the SAT reasoning in October. Early Decision deadline is November 1st. The next available test date for me to take Sat or subject tests is November 7th. A week past the deadline
Take the sat in oct. have the score sent. take the IIs in Nov. They will be sent a few weeks later when ready. if it is too late, there is nothing you can do at this point. you can call and ask if H admissions think the Nov tests will make it on time. The point is, there are no extensions foe ED.

read the part under testing about early action…
You could take the ACT and the Subject Tests?
