Harvard ECs

I will be an incoming freshman this coming year and understand that ECs play a very large role at Harvard. Therefore, this summer I am trying to put together a list of activities, clubs etc. that I can try out immediately when I get to Harvard since I know that participation in these activities will play an important part in helping me adjust to life at Harvard and make the most of my time there.

In high school, most of me ECs were very academic and revolved around math and science: I was involved in many math/science clubs and competitions as well as chemistry research. In addition, although I played the violin in my school's orchestra and symphony, I do not believe that I play well enough to join any orchestras. Right now, I will probably concentrate in a natural science (most likely biology-related) and am interested in pursuing a secondary field in economics. I am looking at pre-med right now; however, I understand that about 40% of incoming freshmen say they are pre-med and that obviously only a fraction of these students apply to med school. I am definitely open to trying new, diverse activities.

So, right now I am interested in:
Premed Society
Harvard Crimson (is it true that the comp is only in the Spring?)
Harvard Cancer Society
Science research starting in the Spring

Does anyone have any advice about other activities? This list I am sure will change once I get their and try different activities, but does anyone have any ideas?
