It said that since I'm Mexican American and I have strong academics that they strongly encourage me to apply to Harvard. Does this mean anything that they are contacting me? Also do I have a chance at Harvard- 2100 sat, 4.3 gpa, tons of extracurriculars, really good essay IMO, lots of community service

PSAT database based on the race you entered and minimum criteria for GPA that you entered when signing up for an SAT/PSAT?

“Does this mean anything that they are contacting me?”

Not really. You’re a potentially viable candidate and your name hit a certain mailing list. More than 90% of the people who apply from that list will be rejected. That’s just the facts.

" Also do I have a chance at Harvard"

Yes – but I’m sure you know that no one has a GOOD chance there.

And I’m sure that since your name is on a Harvard contact list, your mail carrier is doing extra duty hauling all sorts of college mail to you, right? Same thing as the Harvard email.

I got a similar e-mail, except I’m Asian American. Which is even funnier, because Harvard will have more than enough qualified Asian Americans applicants.

(As of now, I don’t think I’ll be applying.)
