Harvard Extension School

Recently came across this program and became interested by it. I understand that an undergraduate degree from the HES is not the same as an actual Harvard degree, but I was curious if the completion of seperate courses could perhaps increase the chances of a college application being accepted? To clarify, this is not the successful completion of the degree, but rather the completion of a few courses, perhaps even the acquisition of a few undergraduate credits. My school does not offer the subjects that I am interested in, and as such, I must complete my education through a third party source. Even if the completion of HES courses does not strengthen a college application, I would still be interested in taking these courses. However, this information could prove to be valuable if the opposite were true, which is why I ask this question. My second question pertains to the undergraduate credits acquired through a course taken at HES. I understand that it is possible to transfer these credits to other schools, however, my questions is- which schools do not accept credits from HES? Finally, are there any prerequisites which must be completed before enrolling in a class? I believe that a few of the courses have english proficiency tests, but in a course which does not list any prerequisites, are you still required to complete certain assignments? Perhaps prerequisites for enrolling into any course? Again, this is not for the degree, which has three prerequisite courses which must be completed with a satisfactory grade before admission.

For answers to such specific questions, you should contact HES itself. To find out about transfer credits, you must contact the individual colleges, they each have different criteria.

It could, it shows advanced studies. In fact some of the classes such as Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra, are dominated by high school students who have topped out in math.

Depends on the school. Some do, some don’t.

I think the only prerequisites that are enforced are the ones for the Expository Writing where you have to take the placement test.
