Hispanic+First generation is the best thing on your application.

cough Affirmative action cough

Umm, THANKS?

how do you have a 4.0 unweighted with a B?

Bring up you SAT’s some more. And ignore nuclear, people over estimate the effect of affirmative action and then blame the minorities for it.

I would definitely go for the SAT retake. You do have solid chances at all your schools though:
Harvard - 15% (It’s tough to get in. With higher SATs your chances go up, but chancing the Ivies is really hard)
Johns Hopkins- 40-50% (Boost the SAT to a 2100+ and I would say you’re in)
Princeton- 15% (Again, tough admissions and tough to chance)
Yale- 15% (Same)

Overall I would say you have good chances at the schools you mentioned but you might want to consider broadening the schools you are looking at. Consider Cornell, Northwestern, UChicago, UCBerk, and possibly Notre Dame if you don’t mind a Catholic school.

Good luck!

I don’t think you will get accepted to Harvard. SAT’s way to low. URM status really only helps if you are African American. The other schools are also high reaches. Pretty weak EC’s for Ivy League schools as well.

I’d say you have a good chance at all those schools. Keep working hard and remember to listen to people with correct grammar. I’m sure they know more than others!

OK, but I have to really disagree with what intangliblegator just said. Latinos are the fastest growing dem. in the US, and there is a much bigger demand at ivys for hispanics, especially those with 4.0’s and SAT above 2200. I think if you raise your SAT score above 2200, youre in at one of HYP.

Yea, try retaking the SAT and getting about 2200…it will greatly help your chances.

I would say raise your SAT’s to 2200+, however from what you have said demographics can be a factor in persuading AdComs that you have worked hard for that score. Your grades are very good! Although it is impossible to say for sure whether you will or will not get in, I can deduce from the info you have provided that you are a strong applicant :)

I’d say increase your SAT to 2100 and you’ll have a good shot.
