If harvard schedules you for an interview, does that mean that they are showing interest in you. is it also true that all applicants have the oppurtunity to get an interview, or do only a handful

I think there was a spot in the supplemental application that asked whether you were interested in an interview or not. If you checked yes, I bet you'd get a call.

Pretty much everyone gets an interview. It doesn't mean anything special. Sorry.

Harvard tries to interview all US applicants who complete their applications. When applicants don't get interviewed it's typically because no alum volunteer can be found withinin a reasonable driving distance.

For obvious reasons, it's far more difficult for Harvard to interview international applicants. The availability of alum or adcoms (who travel internationally over the summer) is a key factor in whether students are interviewed. I also hypothesize that getting an international interview may indicate that one has slightly greater chances of being accepted. Of course, "slightly greater" may mean that one's chances are 1:8, not one in 11 of being admitted.
