I had a financial aid email on 3/16 - I was missing some schedules so it was specific to me. Do they determine financial aid for every single applicant? That is the question.

I didnt get any financial aid email

sempitern - maybe that just means your financial aid app is complete.

well, I know for a fact that it isnt, I havent sent in my parents 2004 tax returns because they havent completed it.... oh well :(

That Gina Grant article was very interesting. I must say, I do feel bad for her, as she was abused.

On another note, did anyone notice that of the Intel Top 10 winners, quite a few of them are going to....pretty normal colleges. CUNY Honors College, 2 U Chicago, JHU, U of Arizona. Thse are the kind of school that you don't need to win Intel to get into. Of course, there's also the typical 2 Stanfords, 1 Harvard, and 1 Yale. Just an interesting fact I noticed...

one in a million ................ (chances) :D

technically you all have a 1/[total applicant pool] chance ceteris paribus.

lol i like that, invictus =D

after been having deferred ea and slacked off since then, i give myself 1/30 (realistically)

i honestly don't give a damn anymore.. forget the username, i nearly withdraw my app just to make a point, b/c ppl think i've been slacking off solely because i was deferred ea -_-;

I'm ready for my decision :)

im ready as well....be it rejection or acceptance. the long wait for clearing the deferral ambiguity is almost ending!

sempitern555,
same thing happened to me with princeton FA.. :(

I doubt the FA email means anything -- sempi, if you submitted 2003 tax returns through IDOC, maybe it is considered complete.

i called harvard FA as well... if you're contacted this late in the admissions process, then it's good news...

they start the fa for everyone, but only finish the ones for those who are admitted.

Princetonwannabe, who'd you speak to? Interesting.

financial aid officer.

I'm surprised they'd say anything like that. I'm curious as to how you asked them.

i just asked a simple question

"I have a quick question regarding harvard's financial aid process. do the FA office compute aid only for those who are admitted or for every applicant but only release the numbers for those who are admitted? to me, it seem unreasonable to calculate the aid for 22000 students when only around 1500 will need it, yet you will not know the 2000 admittees till one week prior to the decision release date, which doesn't quite give you enough time."

something like that.

Good logic. And their response was just that "it's good news" to hear this late from the FA office?

omg im panicking. This is horrible. I didnt send in my tax froms either and they didnt give me any notice. This is the worst news ever!!!!!
