Harvard-NEC dual program

Hello,

I am aware that only 5-6 applicants get admitted into the dual program. However, do any of you guys know how many get admitted into both Harvard and NEC separately?

My son’s roommate was admitted to the dual degree program with NEC. Based on what my son has told me, I believe that there are more like 10-12 students that are admitted as freshmen. You can also apply as a Junior (?). In that case, I believe that you need to have taken a substantial number of Music courses. My son was admitted to Harvard and wait-listed at NEC, but decided that it was unlikely that he would be admitted to the dual-degree program even if NEC accepted him from the waitlist, and withdrew from the list. My guess is that if you are smart enought to get into Harvard and talented enough to get into NEC, you probably would get into the program. I does consume a substantial amount of time because you are taking classes/lessons at both schools and that may go into the schools’ decision on whether you would be a good candidate for the program. It would probably mean that you could not participate in as many ECs at Harvard.

@Hat: Thank you so much! Your response was very helpful and cleared some confusion.
