Hello! I'm going to be Harvard undergrad concentrating in Environmental Science and Public Policy next year and I'm wondering about Harvard law school placement. Does anyone know if Harvard Students frequently get accepted into HLS or Yale? Or do they want students from other schools?

They do not discriminate against their own undergrads.

I read somewhere that Harvard Law fills up 30% of its class with Harvard undergrads. But that might not be true

I think it is somewhat true (maybe more like 15-20%) but it is generally because harvard students are smarter and do better in their GPA/lsat so they get admission to top school. Going to harvard doesn't help you much.

ug has nothing to do with law school admissions. a 4.0 from a state school and a 170 lsat looks more appealing than a 3.4 170 LSAT from Harvard LSAT score is the most important factor.

Post #4 is correct. The OP was asking about a possible penalty, which also does not exist.

Harvard undergrads get a boost in admissions for HLS. HLS will accept not only lower GPA but lower LSAT candidates from Harvard College. Look at the stats if you don't believe me (you'd have to ask a current Harvard college student for the pre-law stats). Yale and Princeton get similar advantages at HLS.
