Harvard RD 2014 Thread

I think its the first one unversity not college.

Yeah I don’t understand why people take the subject test in their native language. Yes students might not be prepared for the test, but that’s not the point of taking the test right? Many non -speakers also don’t know the format of the test or questions and still take it.

I had a friend who was an exchange student planning to go to college in the US and she took the japanese language test eventhough she’s been in japan for more than 16 years. I think you are wasting your time because colleges won’t regard it AT ALL. if they know you are a native speaker. I feel the same way with native speakers in freshman year who go straight in the AP Language V classes. Why waste your time when you already know the language ? just because of another AP class?

Hmmm, the website for financial aid says “Our Federal code is E00468” - for FAFSA.

It’s Harvard College. We’re all applicants to Harvard College, not Harvard University.

Live, thread, live!

So… How’s everyone doing? Have a good interview?
Dying from the wait?
Confident? Nervous? Despondent?

I keep telling everyone I know that I have no chance, and that I’m bound to get denied admission. That way no one is disappointed if I am rejected, and if I merit admission, it’s that much better.

It’ll still say Harvard University on your diploma…
though for things like FAFSA, if there is an option for Harvard College, pick that.

anxious… but keeping a good attitude  COME ON, THINK POSITIVE GUYS!!!

Hahahahaha, I’m going to expect the worst. I mean a <10% acceptance rate is not something to be excited about.

^anonymous, mightn’t you be in cambridge anyway next year? congrats.

Why thank you. Have you heard back from anywhere yet?

yeah, i got in EA at yale but i’m waiting for my other schools’ decisions to be released to (hopefully) compare FA.

@Tres Elefantes - Wow, I’m in the presence of greatness :)

baha, nice one. i think it is i who am in the presence of greatness.

My son is waiting anxiously for the admission decision. He did have an interview in January. Is every applicant required to have one? How affective is it? Does the summer school at SSP help the application? I just hope my son gets his wish granted. And good luck to all of you!

To the first two: No, the interview is not required, and the effect is somewhere between negligible and rather small.
