I can’t fathom why deferred candidates act like its the end of their life. cheer up guys! They rejected half of the applicants and deferred the rest. Which means you’re still in the game! They only wanted to compare you to the regular decision pool and pick the best ones. You guys have as good a chance as any. Just hope for the best. And be proud for how much effort you’ve put in. A university decision is not a testament to your efforts. You know how hard you’ve worked. So be proud of yourselves and stay awesome
I’m sure we’ll all get into awesome schools
@Honeyraven Well, I submitted an arts supplement where I was able to express interest in the program. I also really pushed it through the interview. My interviewer specifically asked me what I wanted him to directly tell the ad com in his summary, and I said to push my interest in that new concentration. But yes, on the Common App, I did specify my academic interest as “social sciences”, considering I would want that field to be my primary concentration.
All of you have bright futures ahead regardless of the college you go to!! Trust me, I also have little faith, but I believe it must be a rarity for one to “expect” an acceptance letter from Harvard ~what is meant to be will be~
It would be a great idea if everyone could come back to this thread on March 31 and post where you got in and where you finally decided to go. I think it would be helpful to next year’s group of applicants (and many generations beyond) to see that life is not over even after a deferral.
Good luck to all of you guys!
@azwu331 : Shouldn’t we post to the RD thread instead since those who were deferred from the SCEA round are moved to the RD round.
@schroscat so that’s the famous cat. Very cute, I must say.
@idislikethesats
Thanks for explaining. I’m really unsure about either Folklore and Mythology or Theatre, Dance, and Media with a secondary concentration in Celtic Languages and Literature (what is hilarious about this is that this is probably one of the few cases where choosing the theatre major would actually lead to greater job security in the future). I didn’t specifically ask my interviewer to tell Harvard about my interest in those concentrations because it didn’t occur to me that I could, but it did get covered in the conversation and the questions she asked me and took up a large portion of the interview.
@Soheils thank you! Schrö has grown quite a bit since that photo…or has he?
So no likely letters yet?
Cool! Well either way I’m sure you were able to communicate your passion through the interview as well as your essays @Honeyraven best of luck with your decisions!
I have never seen Likely letters sent out. I thought that was an old tradition that was no longer practiced?
Penn does them digitally
Wow…That’s strange…But to be honest, I would really wish Harvard still do that (or maybe they do and I just don’t know).
I figure that my chance of even getting into Harvard is so minute that to wonder about how their LLs are sent is utterly pointless
@TheWaffleMan149 : Eh, everyone’s chances is slim unless they are extremely wealthy donators or geniuses. Either way, I never realized that the letter was a thing until reading through some of the posts in here.
They say that once every three centuries, the mythical creature, dubbed by the few that have witnessed its magnificence, the “Harvard Likely Letter” is seen somewhere in the world
The “Harvard Likely Letter” has now surpassed the Legend of King Arthur in terms of mythical aura.
The term “Harvard Likely Letter” is considered being wiped out entirely because humanity is not sure if this creature actually exists
Some wish that they would encounter that mythical creature whereas others want it dead so that it may fall in no one’s hands.
“Harvard Likely Letter” comes from the Latin “harvardius likeliae,” which roughly translates to “imaginary document that is used to trick teens around the world into thinking that it is possible to be a likely candidate for Harvard”
