If I can get in (lol) I intend to major in Biomedical Engineering!
@parisbarca77 It shouldn’t drastically affect your application but they would probably look more at your scores and grades if u intended to do something Math or Science related
So scared for decisions next Thursday
Same!! Harvard is my dream school and the best fit for me. I love everything about Harvard. It helps since I love Boston too. Boston is my favorite city and has great history
Looking forward with hope and anxiety for the 31st
I just joined College Confidential, but have been watching the discussions for a few months. Based on what I see, everyone tends to get really nervous during this time (myself included). Does anyone have any tips to counteract the nervousness while waiting for university decisions? I find myself checking the portal wayyy to often, lol.
Lol there is nothing one can do to calm their nervousness. Some of us been waiting for this our whole lives.
@Rhaody to counteract the stress, I just keep reminding myself that the admissions decision is out of my control at this point. I remind myself encouragingly that I did all that I can do. I’ve worked hard in high school up until this point, I’ve gotten good grades, good test scores, my essay and interview were good. Now the decision is in the hands of the 40 people on the committee who look over my application. I cannot control what they think about it, say about it, and I definitely cannot control their decisions. You just have to know that you did all that you can do and trust that the admissions committee can see that.
I know it is hard, I’m in the same boat right now, waiting on Harvard and two other top schools that are all releasing decisions sometime next week. I am very anxious but I am thinking positive. I believe that everything happens for a reason and that, if it is meant to be, it will be.
Wow. That’s a really mature outlook!
At this point of time I have to agree; there really isn’t anything more we can do now. However, I still always find myself wondering what the admissions people are thinking about me, especially since I was really nervous during my interview (it was my first interview ever and I think it showed a little).
Anyways, it’s great to know that there are other people out there that are thinking about the same thing. Thanks for the answer, it really helped
@Rbaody I can relate there. I do wonder from time from time what the admissions committee are thinking about when they look at my application and what their reactions are. And, yeah don’t worry, there are definitely other people out there who are going through this right now!
Fellow international here! Originally from Argentina but currently residing in the USA. I want to major in earth and planetary science! Really worried about being accepted though as I was rejected from JHU last Friday…
I came across this article from an admission officer that helped me somehow put things in perspective. I hope it will help you, as well, as we get closer to decision day.
That was a really great thing to read right now, @SD2020. Thanks for posting it. I almost didn’t click on it when I saw it was from an MIT admissions officer, but I’m glad I did.
@SD2020 - There are many such articles from all the colleges. What is shocking is when you find someone who breaks the rule.
I had one of my friends who had an ACT32 with nothing outstanding other than being the captain of a club gets a full ride in an exceptional institution when the rest who have way better everything are getting rejected.
So, yes, these are good writeups but at the end of the day, it is the voting process that makes or breaks a case and of course, we can’t forget your attorney (the primary reader) who presents your case to the voting committee.
So, a LOT could go wrong and at many places - my 2 cents (skeptically).
ESSAYS ESSAYS ESSAYS @shivaya
ha ha ha :)) .
guys I need help. Will someone of willing to read my appeal for UW because I got rejected and its my dream school. please?
PM me.
Wait listed at MIT and ND. Waiting on Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Columbia, Penn, Duke, Princeton, Stanford. Any hope??? Hope not to go 0 for 10.
@nstasi did you apply to any matches or safeties? The schools you listed are all reaches for pretty much everyone. They reject valedictorians with perfect SAT/ACT scores. That being said, since you were waitlisted instead of outright rejected at MIT and ND, you must be a solid applicant. You probably have a chance at getting into at least one of your schools. Still, I wouldn’t be completely surprised if you didn’t get into any of them. But don’t give up hope!
Yes, I have been admitted to 2 safety schools (ISU and Iowa).
