@snackpack Big Survivor fan so I’ve been catching up on the last few seasons I missed on Hulu
@snackpack02 Visited over a summer, actually – I have a family member who’s a student there (talk about living vicariously, am I right?), so I got to sleep in her dorm and everything. The town and atmosphere itself is really, really amazing; it’s a mix of intellectual and entertainment, if that makes sense. (It’s like midnight here so I’m not very eloquent…) Like, everyone there seems really, really smart but also really, really down-to-earth and funny. Teachers and adults there are super friendly, students are open and welcoming, just overall a really great place.
Plus, can we talk about that Bostonian food??? <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
@Stephiey Honestly haven’t eaten any “Bostonian food” care to elaborate?
Also from watching box of lies mini game on Jimmy Fallon, who wants to play a box of lies, anxious teens version? (List an object that may or may not be in front of you, and we have to guess if you are saying the truth or not)
I’ll try it out. Sitting in front of me is a harvard t shirt that I may or may not have to throw out in a few weeks.
@expertiger that’s a lie!
@snackpack02 got me! It’s in my closet lol.
@snackpack02 Well, I’m terrible with names so I can’t list off any specific restaurants, but I do remember eating really good Thai food, a great brunch at a restaurant right next to the University, this absolutely delicious tiramisu at a bakery, and the best frozen yogurt I have ever tried. Honestly, I didn’t have any Boston “specialties” (not even sure what they might be…), but then again when you’ve grown up in a small town like me, any food is great, I guess.
Ohhhh, I love box of lies! In front of me, on the floor, I have a single gray Croc missing its strap with a bag of cheetos inside.
@Stephiey that’s also a lie! The Cheetos are not inside the crocs
@Stephiey Ooh when I was in Boston about two years ago, I tried clam chowder for the first time! I thought it was quite tasty even if I wouldn’t have it every day.
Take a look at onHarvardtime. Some of their videos are quite interesting.
BTW, I love silicon valley. I also recommend Arrested Dev and Community.
I’m passing my time with studying and preparing my RD applications…
And watching Netflix of course
If you need a show to binge then watch Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Lost or Game of Thrones. You can’t go wrong with them.
@Soheils their parody of ‘Why I Chose Yale’ is absolutely hilarious
@karakoram Yup. It is nice. Their admissions decisions video is great too.
Did any of you guys had interview calls?
@Barcelona17
what do you mean by interview calls? I was contacted for a skype interview in mid november.
@Barcelona17 I haven’t yet either and I understand that all applicants may not receive an interview due to limited volunteers amongst alumni but it’s a bit disheartening. I live outside of Philadelphia and there is an active Harvard Alumni chapter and have not been contacted. I realize it is “no reflection on the applicant” but it does make you wonder why you weren’t contacted. Countdown to December 10/11…
I visited in August (I think?), my aunt works at Harvard and one of her colleagues has a son studying in the school of government. So he showed me around campus, and I think the best part was the tour of Adams House. There is a tunnel underneath Adams that connects the atrium/library/cafe to the actual dorms. It’s amazing. Also ate on campus and have to say the food at Harvard is pretty spot on
Soheils,.I mean that were any of you contacted for an interview?,…So not getting an interview call implies that the university is not interested in you right?
@Barcelona17 wrong. Where are you from? If you from a country with limited interviews ( I am assuming that you are a Catalan), some believe it might, though Harvard claims it does not. If you are from North America, it doesn’t mean anything.
@snackpack02 Wrong! It’s a truth! (The bag of cheetos fell off my desk and onto the croc when I bumped into the table yesterday).
@RandomRhino Yeah, clam chowder is delicious. I mean, it’s a big city, and I’ve never heard of a big city without some specialties/really good food, so I guess that was expected.
