Harvard SCEA Class of 2020 Applicant Thread

@expertiger Basically, in Turkey, a test is administered at the end of senior year that is comprehensive of the last four years of the student’s education. The score received about a month later is based upon that particular student’s ranking within the country for that testing cycle. From there, a pamphlet is released stating the rankings needed for a particular school and program if the student is interested in receiving a full scholarship. If the student is slightly below those margins, they can elect to pay tuition for the school of their choice. Otherwise, they will have to wait another year for the next testing cycle. There is absolutely no holistic approach to college admissions in Turkey. It’s rather sad.

Did anyone see my question? I’m really looking for some advice without having to ask in the dreaded admissions forum

@pioneer16 I see what you mean. As long as I don’t have a score that says, “Nope. She’s not smart enough,” I’m content.

@tuty143 You can still “submit” the December testing cycle after you take the test. So, if you take it, and you feel confident about your performance, you can get the scores directly sent to your school of choice once they’re released.

Sorry could you repost it? I can’t seem to find it. @tuty143

@expertiger yeah of course!

Hey guys, I feel like I can trust you so I’ve got a question. For my other RD schools I’m taking the SAT dec5, which obviously doesn’t receive results until around the 22nd. Should I send it to my schools now, before taking the test or do you think I should send it after, once I’ve seen my scores. If sent after I would risk them not making it (the college board dropping the ball) or my not having internet access (family trip to brazil around that time ). I’m just worried because if I see my scores and they are bad, I wont send them as I already have my ACT to fall back on. But if I send prior and they are bad, I can’t take them back and they would just weaken my applications. What do you advise?

@tuty143 first and foremost how do YOU think you did on the test??

@tuty143 I would personally wait and see. If they are sent to the schools, they will still consider them if they are a bit late. If you don’t get the scores you want, it may negatively affect your app. Also, you may consider doing a “rush” send to them if you really want to be sure.

@tuty143 Send it after because I think it will take them a while to process your SAT scores due to the new electronic submission. No need to worry about late scores since the colleges know about collegeboard’s new system

@bearcon It translates to English as Intelligent and body. PM me if you think you can guess it and I will tell you if you are correct. I cannot give the name on CC, of course. My younger son’s name translates to bright.

@redrabbit23 not good. At all. honestly. but its ok because I did not send it, and instead used my ACT which im ok with because it is within Ivy bounds lol. But I need to take the SAT for national merit, so might as well just use it for schools as well you know?
@expertiger I was thinking the same thing but the last time I rush ordered scores the college board dropped the ball and they still havent sent.

@tuty143 either way, they’ll get to the school eventually. If you don’t feel too good about the score, and you think it’s likely that your act is better, definitely don’t send yet. Harvard has no preference between act and sat. Good luck!

I would wait and see how you did before you send them then. @tuty143

Selam Turkler ! @bearcon @LKnomad @Sajidur4 @schroscat
When will the decisions come out ? I become so proud when I see Turks getting accepted to Harvard !

Merhaba arkadaslar!! Can’t believe there are so many Turks in this thread!! @simarikcocuk @bearcon @LKnomad @Sajidur4 @schroscat
Does anyone know if rejections and deferrals are released at a different date? Perhaps earlier?

I’m fairly confident they’re released on the same day.

Raised 21.4 million dollars???,…

btw,…When you open the Harvard portal with your account, you see ‘Fee Waiver’ and an ‘Application fee waiver’. I can understand the green tick behind Application Fee Waiver but what does a green tick behind ‘Fee Waiver’ means?

@shubhud2016. I think you have a great shot, tbh I could be surprised if you got rejected or even deferred. If you don’t mind me asking, why El Salvador?

@rohind1998 Choir throat massager? That’s interesting! Looking at your stats, you seem like a really fun and great kid but your academics are below the 25% , so your chance is decreased but that doesn’t mean you might not get in, you might just have what they are looking for
