Harvard Spring 2009 Admission Meetings Scheduled

The Exploring College Options website

Exploring College Options

announces the schedule of joint meetings featuring Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn, and Stanford. Attending one of these meetings is a great way to meet a Harvard admission officer and hear what Harvard is all about. One of those other four colleges may be of interest to you also. The site includes links for signing up for each event.

Thanks for the info, tokenadult - I almost forgot about “Exploring College Options!”

If anyone has been to this, is it actually useful? I’m curious as to how they fit five schools into 1.5 hours lol xD

I went last year. I was a good intro to the schools and there was time at the end to chat personally with admissions officers. I’d recommend it - you might even pick up some ideas or brochures that will help you out later with the “Why X School?” question on your apps. :)

I thought the meeting was useful. I have attended three of the four previous years. I haven’t succeeded in convincing many of my local friends to encourage their children to apply to colleges like that, but some younger people I know coming up will probably submit applications.

I went last year.
Honestly, if I didn’t go, I doubt I would have applied this year.
I fell in love with Harvard after that presentation.

I went in the fall, and it was a neat experience. It’s definitely not as in-depth as a typical college information seminar, though. It’s much nicer to speak with the adcoms directly rather than sitting in an auditorium with hundreds of other people watching powerpoint presentations.

I thought this was really helpful when I went in April of my junior year. I went to check out Penn, but I ended up becoming very interested in Harvard. It helped me decide that I wanted to apply. I would recommend this session to anybody since it may be helpful to compare your “first choice” to some of these other schools, if you haven’t already. I think the variety of colleges is what is most helpful.

Oh, good, I can go to the Chicago session. Come say hello if you attend.

That would be worth the day trip to Chicago for me to see you there, but I guess I have at least two sessions to attend that are closer. Have a good time at the Chicago session.

This presentation gave me a really bad impression of Harvard. Penn was the most attractive after the ECO thing. But I ended up applying to Harvard anyway.

I went to one of these meetings when they came to Little Rock back in the fall. It was really good; I highly recommend it to all you upcoming seniors.

If I’m a sophomore, would it be weird for me to go? Is this only for current juniors?

Anyone can go.
