Anybody who is going to apply?
People who has gone before especially in recent years, are very welcomed to share their experience and opinion.
What was the acceptance rate last year?
Were the courses actually challenging since it is not a very selective program?
Any thoughts are much appreciated. :)

In the Harvard forum there is thread about SSP which answers most of your questions. Depending on what you take, the courses can be very challenging.

This program will be what you make of it. Many of the colleges are for real and you do get college credit. Also, I know of some kids that also pursued independent research w/ a Harvard prof while there, and get some research kudos for it for their college apps. There are also non academic advantages – such as learning how to be on your own, manage time, etc… which although seem trivial, will help when you actually get to college.

Thank you!

My son was just accepted.
I went last year and had a blast. Ask me any questions if you’d like.
Acceptance rate was ~60% I heard.
Difficulty depends on the courses you take. This is a summer program, and you should enjoy it, so don’t take any difficult classes especially if you wont enjoy them. The 8 credit biology, chem, and economics courses were by far the worst. Students in those classes were studying non-stop to get Bs or Cs. I took marine biology with professor woollacott and psychology of diversity with professor weissmark, and I loved both of them. Super great classes. My marine bio class only had 13 people, while diversity had about 20.
Who is going? What classes are you taking?
