So I tried (and failed) to find information on this on here, but what kind of essay are we supposed to turn in for the Harvard SSP application? I decided I want to do the program for the experience, but I'm a bit hazy on what kind of essay they want.

To those of you who are applying or have applied, are we supposed to write a new essay and get it graded by a teacher and then turn in that essay with the comments on them? Or are we supposed to turn in a previously written and graded essay? Are we even supposed to turn in the comments/grade? Also, what should the essay topic even be?

I'm probably putting way too much thought into this, haha, but any replies would be greatly appreciated!

You should probably send in a previously written essay with the grades and teacher’s comments on it. The topics can be generally anything (like essays for English class, History Reports, etc…), but no poetry and labs… (I think there are a list of writings you are not supposed to submit.)

You literally just send in any essay that you have written that has been graded an preferably commented on by a teacher (within the restrictions posted on the website). Mine was from fall of 2011 and was a response essay on To Kill a Mockingbird for my English class, and I was accepted. I think that as long as it was written within a reasonable amount of time, like while you’re in high school, it should be fine.
