Harvard ssp good or bad?

I was thinking about doing the ssp program At harvard. My question is does ssp hinder your chances at getting accepted. I heard only 2% get accepted to harvard who did ssp. Also my friend goes there and he said it's basically a party. Kids have gotten expelled for drinking. Is it even worth it? Do recs from harvard profs actually give you an advantage. Between ssp or doing payed lab work which one would benefit more? Thank you

Do the paid lab work. Getting into college isn’t everything, and stumbling upon something you enjoy that could be career-worthy is far better than whatever the ssp program can offer.

Do something you enjoy, and kick it up a notch until you’re exceptional.

The 2% seems may be incorrect? The photos that appear under the My.Harvard
college facebook in summer (Prior to freshman starting) are all of SSP participants.
Out of 1660 or so roughly 160+ phtoos are there implying roughly 10% SSP alumini
matriculate.

Just guessing here.

Synth - How do you know that those photos are all students who participated in SSP? Was that the case in past years? I’m wondering if any of those photos are from students from the admitted students weekend. At the activities fair and the admitted weekend, Harvard was taking ID photos of any students who were certain of their acceptance plans. I would assume that some of those photos were uploaded into the my.harvard facebook.

^you are probably correct smoda.
