High school junior will attend Harvard this summer

By Cavanaugh Greenwood Of The Press Staff

Traffic jams, hundreds of people on every street corner, and the constant bustling of a big city will be a new kind of atmosphere for Carthage High School student Sara Stone. For eight weeks, she will be attending Harvard University in Boston, MA. for their summer program. She will experience big city life and a college atmosphere as she studies many different type of programs for college credits.

I'm really excited to go away. Stone said. My whole reason for going was to learn about different types of things. For eight weeks I will get to study many different things that I wouldn't be able to study around here.

Sara had to meet many different qualifications before she would be accepted to the program. She had to submit her PSAT and ACT scores for her application; along with her GPA. She said that she first heard about the program through the high school....

I'm just really excited to go. I am kind of nervous because it will be a new atmosphere for me. Stone said. Harvard is one of the top schools in the nation; it is very diverse and it is going to be a lot of fun.

Since she will be graduating from high school next spring, she said that this will be a great opportunity for her to explore Harvard as a possible choice for a college.

I am maybe considering Harvard, but I have a lot of other colleges I am looking at too. Stone said. I really want to go away for college, so I have looked at colleges in California, maybe an art school in Atlanta, and many others as well....

It's going to be very different for me. Stone said. I am going to see all different types of things, and I am also going to get to learn about things I wouldn't learn in high school.

Can I use scholarship money to cover ssp?

What does everyone think of the HSA laundry plans and/or linen plans?

Are you going to get it? Seems very expensive: $275 for 8weeks of linen and $200 for 1 bag of washing, washed for you, a week.

The Fan costs $20... surely you can buy one for cheaper?

Does anyone know if the Grays Hall Rooms are Single or ??

Thanks

If you are self-sufficient, don't use HSA Laundry - you can do your own laundry at the fraction of the price, and you know that you will have your clothes afterwards (I've heard they can lose items).

Of course you can buy a cheaper fan. Grays definitely has no singles.

I'm heading back to Cambridge for the summer (I'm part of a volunteer program), so I've done much research on the subject.

by cheaper price, do u mean doing laundry ourselves using the machines available at some dormitories.........and where can we get cheaper fans from?

Hey rukun
you will take calculus II,really? Then why do you want to change? too easy for you or-----

hey associasian
you live in Matthews? Nice to see you there then.

Should we buy linen aswell? It seems cheaper than the $200 charged by HSA! (although they do wash it)

I think i will buy a fan and do my own laundry = savings of $250!!! which can be used for other stuff.

What other stuff do we need/essentials??

Can anyone tell me the layout of Grays Hall Dorms?
Thanks

@fantastic7...... have you taken calculusII too........i am currently registered for it

Hey does anybody know if you can do jobs...like work in the library when you're not in class...to help cut down the cost.
