Harvard Transfer Thread?

Troy_uk:
she was really positive, said they wanted me cause im a coxswain and they're always hard to come by.
she said she'd do all she could but that it was absolutely nothing official. i was over the moon initially but the same thing happened with a coach at Middlebury and i got rejected anyway.

had no call for an interview.

Yes...for a (tiny, tiny, tiny) moment in the distant past.
As of now...I'm really happy.

How depressing would it be if one of us got rejected because Harvard needs a coxswain

harvard doesn't need a coxswain, harvard has the luxury of not needing anything, you know since its the most presitigious, richest university in the world.
anyway, like i said no academic admissions board member is going to choose me over a better qualified candidate. if i get in, which i don't expect to, it'll be cause they had no reason to say no, not just one reason to say yes.

but i guess everybody needs a reason to feel better about being rejected.

WindCloudUltra, did you apply for sophomore or junior year? Would you mind posting your stats?

Actually, I think my stats are floating somewhere among the archives.

BritKid:

If you don't mind my asking, what department are you applying to, what year and, do you have a 1st or a 2:1?

and generally, do you think harvard knows that 1st year doesnt count towards the UK degree and generally be more friendly towards a 2:1 as opposed to using it as an initial screening out tool??

does harvard even take international transfers?

If so, I feel Oxbridge and LSE ought to be accepting transfer applications from us Americans, lol...

Troy_uk :
I'm applying for near eastern studies, my current degree is arabic and persian. i think im averaging a 2:1 but ive got more 1sts this year (the grades they won't get cause they aren't officially recorded yet). i am fully expecting to be rejected on my grades more than anything else.
its annoying because the way they teach at edinburgh involves the expectation that no know will be achieving more than a 2:1 in first year, especially not in languages. they really don't care as long as you're keeping up and getting around 50% to pass. i know it's totally different in the us where to drop an A is a huge deal. with this in mind i sent grade conversion charts with my transcripts, according to which all my Bs become As in the US but ive been warned it'll probably be ignored.

everyone in the world understands how tough the British system is. Don't wory. I guess they'll not reject you cos of that.

bennybrak... that is good to hear but im avoiding any snippets of information that'll get my hopes up. ive never been so on edge.

the decision comes out june 1, right? ahhhh i'd love to get in... northwestern sucks ><

I've heard on the 20th, actually. Now I'm not sure.

oh my gosh. the 20th???? that's so late!!! i won't even be able to say bye to my friends here O_O

20th of april or 20th of june?

neither- of May. (April 20th is past!)

whered u get that may 20 date?

The application status page says that it is available for freshman applicants until March 28th, and for transfer applicants until May 15th. This year, freshmen received their decisions on March 29th at 5 PM (via e-mail). As I recall, the same pattern was true for freshmen last year. My guess is that the same would be true for transfers, so transfer decision e-mails should be sent out on May 16th at 5 PM.

great...just in time to mess up studying for my physics final, haha.
