harvard transfer

one impressive life!
congrats on the interview call . . .

thanks, does anyone know how i can edit my last post? it doesn't seem to be letting me, and i kind of don't feel comfortable posting that much info--can someone help?

thanks,
Annie

annie- first, thanks for posting the stats. second, after a certain amount of time u cant edit posts urself. my suggestion would be to try PMing a moderator or administrator if you feel you put too much info in it.

bump!

did anyone else get interviews? Did anyone not get an interview last year and still received an offer of transfer?

I heard, in the Harvard thread, that about half last year got interviews, and about half didn't . . .

For those of us who were not contacted about an interview, let's just hope that our applications were so pithy and profound, that there was simply no need to inquire further.

I like that approach ;) I wouldn't worry, trying to find out the logic of harvard is futile...who knows what goes through their heads...

hehe, when I called Harvard, they said they were only interviewing those who had something they needed to clear up. For instance, maybe certaincertainties got an interview call to confirm that she really did have disabilities and wasn't BSing the whole thing.

So certaincertainties, I wouldn't trip (pardon the pun!) about the interview, just make sure you walk in with a limp! Cheers.

yeah, i was actually figuring that, cause I'm sure that is something that they would want to check, especially because i'm basing my reason for transfer on it.

Don't worry, the way i walk is pretty obvious, i don't think limping will be necessary ;) (to clarify, I walk with a very pigeon toed gate and have had 4 surgeries related to cp, which i wrote about in my essay)

hey annie, how did the harvard interview go? well i hope! :) what was it like?? can you give me some idea of what to expect when i have mine next week?

the interview went really well, she was really really nice and it was very relaxed (despite the fact that I was debilitatingly nervous for hours before). However, it was so low key, that I really can't tell what it means, if that makes sense. Basically, she just asked me to talk about myself, why i want to transfer, and anything that I want her to tell the admissions office that wasn't included in the application. She said her role was to provide them with more of an idea of the real person behind the application and to advocate for me. I think I gave a good impression, and we ended up chatting about rowing and oxford and travelling and medschool for most of the time, so it wasn't explicitly about harvard, but i think it went well. I'm just glad to have it behind me, so i can "forget" about it for a month...i wish...

hey i just got a letter saying i was selected for an interview. i hope the interviewer contacts me by wednesday...

eek, that seems really delayed! anyway, i'm wishing you luck, and hopefully they get their act together!

-annie

good for you northrams :) I guess what happens if you don't get contacted by the 20th, is that you just call the admissions office and they'll give you the alum's contact info so you can go about bugging them for an interview yourself. fun fun...but it looks like that's what i'm going to have to do...

actually i don't think you can, because they have to submit the report by the 24th--so i'm hoping that yours gets his/her act together pronto

also, on another note, i really liked my interviewer--do you think it's a good idea to send a thank you email? or is that just asskissing (i'm not meaning it in an ass-kissing way, we had a really fun conversation about england, scotland, france, etc...) any thoughts?

thanks,
Annie

I got an interview request today as well! Are you chances of being accepted significantly increased if you get an interview?

my interviewer got in touch with me today, luckily. i wasnt looking forward to finding out what happens if youre not contacted. ill let u guys know how it went this weekend.

yeah getting an interview means you have a really good shot at getting in.

yay! my interviewer finally contacted me. i have mine on friday...certaincertainties, what i did before when i was going thru this whole college interview process is if i really liked my interviewer, and everything went really well, i got his/her business card or email address and just wrote a follow-up thank you note. the interviewing alumns are only volunteer and don't get paid, so i just made it a point to thank them for taking the time to come out and talk to me.

thanks for the help nattiebee--i also just really enjoyed talking to her, so I would like to thank her for that opportunity.

good luck on Friday, I'll be rooting for you!
