All are great scores. I’d submit all 4.
I’m applying for RD, but I have an SAT superscore question:
I have a 1470 (780 Math, 690 RW). If I happen to get a 1450 (700 Math, 750 RW) on my December retake, that would superscore to 1530. Would a superscore of 1530 allow my app to be considered more seriously compared to the 1470 I have right now? Would the lower 700 Math (or possibly mid-high 600) on the retake not be detrimental?
From what I heard, a 1530 is high enough for an application to be seriously considered at Harvard, but I’m curious if a superscore is any different - especially considering my Math might be lower. The reason for the lower Math score prediction is that I will study solely for the RW section, and will be winging the Math section since I already have a 780 Math.
Just submitted my app! I haven’t received the Student Portal login tho. Does that come by email?
@acomfysofa that’s fine, though I doubt a 1530 vs a 1470 (60 points) is going to put in in the accept vs reject pile. Best of luck!
@acomfysofa Tbh, I feel like once you get into their range, then the SAT scores don’t matter. So 1470+ already puts you in the running. Good luck to you though.
Just submitted also! Not sure either @LeBirthdayBoss, I haven’t gotten anything yet but it’s only been about an hour. Have you heard back yet?
Almost ready to submit, excited yet anxious!!
I cannot believe November 1st is just around the corner! It sort of feels like I created my Common App account yesterday haha
I believe in all of us! We are here to support one another on this journey
@asaltyattic @LeBirthdayBoss I submitted around two weeks ago; I got my applicant status pin around three days after
@MaybeHarvard2022 Aren’t you doing Questbridge, I remember seeing you on that forum. I don’t think you can do Questbridge and EA to another school. I’m not 100% sure?
@Tobster18 I am not doing the match, although I am a finalist. im ea to harvard
@MaybeHarvard2022 Oh ok, I got you. Good luck!
Do test scores have to be received by the deadline? @skieurope
If you are not taking November exams, the scores should certainly be requested before the deadline, but they will give a few days grace period. If you are submitting November scores, which Harvard allows, obviously they will not be ready by 11/1.
Similarly, recs will also get a grace period. What will not get a grace period (unless preapproved as in the case of Harvey/Irma/Maria) is your part of the application.
@skieurope Hey, I’ve contacted the Admissions Office and they told me Harvard doesn’t superscore the SAT, despite what’s stated on the website. Do you know anything about this? Is there a new policy in place?
And on another note, if they do superscore, let’s say I have a 600 in a math section on one test and then it jumps to a 700+ on the next, would it be to my disadvantage to send the test with the 600 for the sake of superscoring if I have a higher English score on the same test?
I’ve been under the assumption that the size to aim for in the supplement essay should be around 650 words, but my essay is looking at more around 850 words but it has a lot of good content that I would really like to share. Should I look to somehow cut down parts of my essay, or is it okay if I send an essay of this count in?
Editing is a valuable life skill. I’d pare it down.
It’s semantics. From the website:
https://college.harvard.edu/does-harvard-superscore-test-results
I’d take the website at face value.
What Harvard is saying is, as an example, if you score 680/800 in March and 740/770 in May, they want you to send in both your complete March and May scores, and then they will consider the 740/800 as best.
@skieurope Thanks. On another note, in response to your earlier reply to someone else, do you think submitting the Nov SAT as the only SAT score will hinder the my app in any way, especially if that score arrives by mid November (i.e will they not start reading my app until my Nov SAT comes in?)
@LOA1000 lol no. don’t overthink it.
