Harvard University Class of 2023 SCEA Applicants

dec 13th a real alum interviewer confirmed it

How many of you would have the fortitude to wait until Dec. 14th to check?

I’ll check it within the hour it’s released.

I am an international student who apply Harvard East Asian Studies this year. I don’t know if I can get in as my situation is very complicated. I am living in Asia . In my country, I take A Level and I am predicted to get 5A* 3A. Since a majority of students only take 3-4 subjects, so I think my A level result has given me advantages even those it is just predicted. I can fluently speak 5 languages, and have got 5 certificates to prove my language ability. I am a rhythmic gymnast and ballet dancer, I achieve the highest level in these two sports. I am good at choreography too. Although I only ranked Top 10% in my school. (Public), I won Serving award at school and silver medal of national volunteer award for 2 consecutively years. However, I only got 1350 in my sat 1 because I got comparatively lower score in English. Therefore I took IELTS and Toefl to prove my English ability. I got band 8 and 111 consecutively. I am not sure if these 2 English tests can complement my my low sat English scores. I was given an interview opportunity 30 hours after I submitted my application on 31/10. The interview was held lon 5/11 and lasted for 75 minutes. The interviewer told me that she was required to submit interview report as soon as possible to admission office. I am not sure if it was a good sign. Please chance me. I am very nervous and I cannot sleep these days.

@cutebaby your application reminds me of this student who was accepted. https://www.chronicle.com/article/Harvard-Senior-Who-Testified/244956

so i think you have a very good chance

@cutebaby – Best of luck. You sound very accomplished and Harvard as well as many of great US schools would be lucky to have you. You’ve done all you can do at this point. It’s out of your hands now so no upside for you in getting overly anxious, etc. Maybe spend some time and energy looking at other possible schools that could fill out your list. Might take your mind off your Harvard app. Good luck!

How long was everyone’s supplement? mine was around 670

@x2019x mine was about 670 as well. What did you write yours about?

@shehar17 I wrote about a mentoring program I have done for the past two years and how that lead me to run for senior class vp and win. What about you?

@x2019x that’s really cool! I wrote about what I want to major in and how I got interested in that major!

@shehar17 lol that’s what I wrote about for my common app essay!

Lol I did the book one but made it very personal with some comments and then for my common app I wrote about community service and Newton’s lass and finding myself

@hgrad2010, @jzducol and others who have been very helpful with their insights, a quick question for you.

Is the need-blind veil fully lifted after the subcommittee meeting? In other words, if the applicant gets to the full-committee phase they know applicant’s financial situation beyond just guessing. Assuming of course, the applicant has filed the required papers for her/his financial aid.

I just got a notification through IDOC that Harvard wants some more financial information. Is that s good thing or a bad thing?

@lilyfullford I think it’s good news. You’ll probably receive a favorable word from the admissions office in december. I called the financial aid office last week to ask if they had received my financial aid documents, but the lady on the phone told me that they only begin processing your financial aid package after the admissions office gives them the green light. This is my speculation, so take it as you will.

Neutral. FA is unrelated to admissions.

When I called and asked, the financial aid office said they will process and make financial aid packages after you’re accepted into the school so Idk if that would mean it would be neutral. Were you missing any documents @lilyfullford because if you weren’t, then I think it’s a good sign!

As one of many many examples over the years

I’ve been on this forum for several years. Every year there is an applicant (or several) who thinks they have discovered the back door to find their admissions decision in advance. Every year it fails. You’ll find out for sure on whatever mid-December date they announce. Until then, don’t try to read the tea leaves.

@skieuropeI put everything into IDOC and all the requested documents and they had just asked me for more that wasn’t originally listed. I was just wondering if I had made a mistake somewhere and that this could tank my admission somehow.

It won’t tank your application.

It just means they want more info.Just give them the additional info they’ve requested and reading nothing else into it.
